Q for DC people

I have a (straight) friend who is about to start trying for a baby. She expects that fertility issues may come up, so I have two questions for you:

1) Good fertility clinics in the area?

2) If you like your OB, who is it and why do you like them?

In other news...I've never been on here at work before, which is why I'm always behind and answer questions 3 days after they are posted. (Peers around cautiously.)

Re: Q for DC people

  • I PMed you the information about the RE/clinic we used, with which we were very pleased.

Unfortunately, I don't have a rec for an OB. We're not thrilled with ours, and are considering switching (I'm interested to see the responses you get!).

    GL to your friend!

  • She's in DC proper, but they're looking (to buy) all over and she is willing to travel for the right clinic/doctor.

I have several friends (including some on this board) who went to Preston Sacks and LOVED him. He is with Columbia Fertility Associates http://columbiafertilityassociates.com/

We went to Shady Grove Fertility (Dr. Sacks didn't take my insurance at the time) and while it did the job - it is like a big box store.  We rarely saw our doctor and the practice is huge. We did like our primary doctor, Dr. Widra (located at the K. St location) - but all of their insemniations are done in Rockville (that is where their andrology lab is located.)  They also have locations all over the region. People either love it or hate it.

I have friends who saw Dr. Bonn and really liked him.  He is gay and has many lesbian couples.  I think he might also do inseminations too. http://www.bonnmd.yourmd.com/

I have friends who go here and liked it! http://www.physiciansandmidwives.com/

And one of my physican co-workers have used this practice and this doc and spoke highly http://www.cwcare.net/provider.asp?pid=1084

    Hope that helps!
