Silly Name Change Question???

I'm in the process of changing my name on EVERYTHING! Now I don't know if it's even possible, but did any of you get your Bachelor's or Master's degree certificates reprinted with your new name??? I just got y teaching certificate redone and my Nat'l Board Certificate is in the process.

TIA!?

Re: Silly Name Change Question???

  • That's not silly :)

I don't think you need to change your name for your degrees, they were given to you legally when you had that name and that is your maiden name. Nobody would question that, I just don't think it's necessary.

If the National Certificate is still being processed and you want it to say your new name, perhaps give them a call and send them your marriage license?

  • I figured as much. I just don't like having 2 names shown... lol. Thanks!
  • I began the name change process myself (Social Security card being the first thing I did). I just notified my school of my name change and marital status and they processed my request.

I'm graduating after sping 2010 term, so I'm making sure that my new name shows up on all school-related documents and records. So, my diploma will have my married name :)

  • I think that if you really wanted to, you could get a new copy of your degrees with your new name, you just have to contact the school. I remember a nestie saying she did this on all her degrees (she was a college professor so I'm guessing she had all the way to a doctorate). I didn't change the name on my bachelors, however my masters is probably going to have my married name on it.
  • Thanks girls!

I didn't know you could do that? I don't think I would do it but I don't see the problem with doing it. Im sure the schools will charge a fee for it.
