Hot tub heating costs

Alright looking for a true estimate on how much it costs to run a hot tub. Hubby and I are looking to purchase a hot tub but would like to know how much it will increase the energy bill. I have heard all different anwsers from $30 to $100.

Re: Hot tub heating costs

  • We got ours as soon as we moved into our new house, so i never had an electric bill at my house before the hot tub.  My brother lives next door in a very similar house and my bill is consistently just about 45 more then his - i have one he doesnt so hard saying that is it for sure but I would think in that ballpark.
  • It ranges due to the age of your tub and the tempature you set it at and where it is located.

IE: If you have a 10 year old tub, set at 104 and you keep it on your deck expect to pay close to $100. Ours is 4 years old, set at 102 and inside our house so our bill is  avg. $40 a month.

  • ours is older, kept outside, and set at 102, on "economy mode".  Our electric bill is usually $50-60 more when we have it up and running than during the summer when it's off/empty.
