Creative Halloween Costumes--ideas wanted!

Ok, so I know it's only September 10th.... but I LOVE Halloween, and am already starting to brain storm about costumes for my husband and I. We will be throwing our second annual Hallowen Open House this year, and I want us to have creative--not store bought--costumes! Everything I think of does not work as a couple... I can think of one or the other.... and I'm trying to add the dog into this equation too....

Here are a few ideas I've thought of:

-Me; mother nature dog; bumblebee or skunk

-Me; Paula Deene dog: piece of fattening food

-dog; land shark

-husband; deer's revenge (antlers and nose with fur exposed... dressed in hunting clothing).

That's it people... I need some better ideas! I'm pretty crafty so I know I can make it... it's just brainstorming some unique and creative costumes!

Re: Creative Halloween Costumes--ideas wanted!

  • I have a Little Red Riding Hood costume I made for last year and a matching Big Bad Wolf costume you could borrow if you want?

I'm planning on going as Octomom and my DH will be the Crazy DR that knocked her up. (I will be close to popping on the night of our party on the 30th)

  • Ok Katie, here's what I can up with on a whim...

Dorothy (you), any of the male characters for Dh, dog- toto!

Queen of hearts (you), King of hearts (DH), baby heart- dog

Angel (you), Devil (DH) then a little devil/angel- dog

If you had a theme it'd be easier- like movie/book characters, sports, etc...

I wish I had a party to go to! That sounds awesome at your new place :)

You can come to my party! We're in Avalon Park and my DH now LIVES for this party every year. All our friends dress up and we decorate the whole house. Fun times. This year we're adding a costume contest and some adult party games.

  • Here is something I saw at a club a few years ago. They won a $500 bar tab in a contest. The guy was dressed like a hurricane. He had a big round puff of batting around him with little plastic houses, cars, trees and even a cow attached to the batting. He had an old lady wig on and eye glasses cause he was Hurricane Frances. His gf was a weather lady. She had on a raincoat, boots and hat. She also had an umbrella that was blown inside out. She was carrying a microphone with a news logo on it. You could be the WESH2 weather girl.

I guess you could put a raincoat on the dog too.

  • I'm so jealous! I can't get my husband to dress up. We've done 1 Halloween party over the past 6 years.

Love the Paula idea. The Hubby/Doggy can be butter and bacon...lmao

  • I love Halloween too, we decided to work my bump into the costume so I dug up DH's old high school football jersey so he'll go as a Quarterback and I'll be a knocked up cheerleader.

you can come to ours, too! the more the merrier although i will warn you--we have a pretty diverse (age range) and rowdy croud! Everyone had a blast last year and everyone is looking forward to this years! We did a costume contest last year, which I'm going to do a bit different this year. I'm going to give everyone a piece of paper to vote, and I'm going to order gift certificates from restaurants.com for  $25 each that will only cost me $1 and $2 each... instead of giving $5 gc's to dunkin donuts! :)

  • Thank you for all the creative ideas! I love the hurricane one! And I am liking the Paula idea.... I would love to find a fattening food costume for the dog or get someone to make a bacon costume for my dog! lol... Maybe my husband could go as a green bag with all sorts of fattening ingredients in it... or a stick of butter! lol...

I can't wait for Halloween, although I have got to get my party date  nailed down.... invites get sent out on 10/1! Smile

  • Katie,

I'd love too!! Maybe i'd come just for the gift certificate :)
