What are some of your pantry/shopping list staples?
I've been slacking on gorcery shopping and we're due for a big trip soon.
So I'd like to pick your brains on what are some of your staples or grocery shopping "wins". For example.. I LOVE TJ's frozen avocados. And their frozen cubes of chopped basil and cilantro. They're so convenient and total time savers.
What are some of yours?
Re: What are some of your pantry/shopping list staples?
Quinoa
Black beans
Brown rice bowls ( two cups)
whole wheat spaghtetti
Pasta sauce
canned pineapple
chickpeas
kidney beans
Fiber one cereal
ETA: salsa and whole wheat pizza dough
these things are always in my pantry for quick meals/snacks
Almost all of my lunches and dinners consist of some variation of these ingredients:
low sodium black beans
bell peppers
avocado
quinoa
baby spinach
pumpkin seeds (great for wraps and salads)
roll up wrap (flax seed wrap w/ omega-3)
whole wheat pitas
TJ's pizza sauce
fresh basil?
salsa?
?
my list is pretty basic, since i've been making a conscious effort to make as many things from scratch as possible these days.
flour - bread and all-purpose
sugar - granulated, brown, and powdered
eggs
yeast
chocolate chips
butter
and there's always boneless/skinless chicken breasts, pork tenderloin, and ground sirloin in the freezer, cans of black beans and salsa for the teen, and a ham steak in the fridge for the bean.
chicken
fish on sale if it looks good
ground turkey
beef if it's on sale & looks good
veggies: lettuce, onion, tomato, zucchini, red peppers, jalapeno, broccoli, nectarines, plums, oranges, apples, etc depending on what is in season
sandwich thins
deli chicken
tortillas
r/f sour cream, shredded cheese, & laughing cow
eggs/yogurt
brown rice
I'm pretty boring & tend to stick to fresh meats & produce and build meals from there.
Ditto everyone else.
Signed,
Lazy With No Brainpower Left For The Day
