I am co-hosting a wedding shower tonight at my house for a close sorority sister. We invited 17 people, most of whom are either the bride's family or other sorority sisters.
As of yesterday, only ONE person had RSVPed. ONE. I had to start making calls last night, and right now NO ONE is able to come. Seriously, right now its just me, my co-host, the bride, and her sister (who is her MOH).
I feel so badly for her and would have changed the date if people had RSVPed and I would have known about it. I suspect that it is a cost issue because 3 of our friends are getting married next month and they are all having bachelorette parties/showers.She is taking it well, but seriously why are our friends so rude that they can't even RSVP.
Not to mention, I have bought 8 bottles of champagne, 5 bottles of wine, 4 pounds of ravioli with homemade sauce, made homemade ice cream and a punch, and cleaned the whole house. FML. Anyone want to come to a bridal shower?
Re: Rant: Wedding Shower
But, co-host and I bought the dyson ball for her as her wedding gift and she has no idea. So, we are thinking we will give that to her tonight to make it all better.
...oh what a dyson can't fix...
If I was closer, I'd totally crash the party! Homemade ravioli, ice cream, and booze! Yum!
That really is a crappy situation. I feel so sorry for your friend! I'm pretty sure the Dyson will fix anything. I'd go nuts if someone had actually purchased mine!
That really sucks. I want to go.
Whatever they Dyson doesn't fix, the liquor will.
My friends in Montreal threw me a party before the wedding. Some of the people there clearly did not want to be there and I really wished they had not come because it made the whole day a downer. At my bachelorette party in NY, there were 7 people who all really wanted to be there and it was one of the most fun nights I've ever had.
Weddings just really bring out people's true colors.

That's exactly what happened at my shower and bachelorette party - no one rsvp'd, and one person showed up. It kind of sucked for me, but I mostly just felt bad for my bridesmaids that put all that effort into it!
She's lucky to have you guys go to all this trouble for her!
yeah I just broke it to her--asked if she wanted us to re-schedule. She is being soo great about it seems still happy to just have a girls night. Seriously, what i great person? i think i would have been really pissed...
But, i did tell i got her favorite champagne and that she can have the leftover bottles, so she seemed rather happy. And we decided that after dinner and gifts we are going out downtown for a girls night, which should be a lot of fun.
And, her FI and my husband are really excited to be on "clean up crew"--they get to eat all the leftover food after taking us downtown. Still, its not the night we had planned for her...
This exactly RedZee! Ravioli, ice cream, booze and a dyson will fix it. Have fun and remember, the important people will be there tonight.
