That's funny you and DH are looking into DC when my DH and I are looking back to the midwest.  If you have questions about here please ask. I've lived here for 3 years now.

I do have a quick question.  What is the cost of living like in IN?  I'm jsut trying to get a feel for it since I'm sure it's so different than here.  For example DH and I are renting a 1 bedroom and a den apartment and paying $1600 a month (not including utilities).

  • hey!  The COL here is ridiculously low....it's awesome.  It's one of the best things about this area.  We live in one of the priciest apartments on the northside and we pay about a grand for a 2bdrm apartment.  Normal 1 bedrooms go from anywhere as low as 500(there are lower priced ones but I would check the areas first) to REALLY REALLY nice ones around 800.  I mean there are the amazing lofted apartments downtown that around a grand or more for a 1bedroom....but they're overpriced for the area.

Gas is about 4.20 right now(since Monday-ish) but before that it was about 3.99 or so.  What area of town do you want to live in?  That will also help determine the COL...for example right downtown or in Broad Ripple are more expensive than the South Side, the East/West side....(well in general) and then when you get up into the Carmel/north side area you'll generally see prices creep up a bit.  Still cheaper for the most part then downtown.

I'm originally from Frederick, MD so moving back home is on our future agenda...just depends on some job things first.  We wouldnt be moving back until after July of '09 anyway...but I cant wait.  I miss it so much.  We go back all the time - just were back in town over Memorial Day weekend.  Fun!  let me know if you have any other questions or if I can help somehow!
