Re: Im losing my childcare in Aug....
I'm not a mommy (sniffsniff) but I used to work in daycare. We would get asked questions about schedules (feeding, playtime, changing), what kinds of activites we did, how we handled discipline, sickness, holidays, payments. I would also see if she has references (if she is reputable, she will- unless she was reccommended to you by someone else). HTH a little
Hi there,
I do vaguely remember your situation, it seems like you are happy about the change, that is good!
This is by no means a comprehensive list, but some things i consider are, does she drive the kids around? Does she provide meals and snacks or do you? Are you concerned about the age at which she may introduce PB snacks?
What is the playroom like? One I do speech therapy at has cobwebs and ceiling tiles missing, it is VERY unappealing, but its in the basement I bet most parents haven't seen it in quite a long time.
Is there outdoor play equipment? Is it fenced in? How busy is her street? Does it add a lot of time to your commute?
I think its more about how much you trust her and whether you feel comfortable w/ your boys there.
Try to observe her interaction w/ kids does she truly interact or more or less just supervise? Does she follow a routine or have a TV rule?
Just some thoughts, Good luck Court! I can't believe how big your boys are getting!
Chrissy
Hey Court!
This checklist is one that I consulted when looking at somewhere to send Jakob part-time. It's really designed more for a center - but I'm sure that in will also give you some ideas of things to wonder about for in-home too!

GL! Look at how big Noah and Jacoby are getting - OMG!
Here are some other questions that I've asked:
Are you comfortable giving simple medications like gas drops, tylenol/mortin, antibiotics etc?
Whats your discipline policy?
Can I drop by unannounced at anytime?
Would you call me if anything happened to my child as simple as a cut finger ( or something like that).
Whats your family's daily routine?
Do you watch kids after school?
How many people are in and out of your house on a daily basis?
Thats all I can think of right now... = )
