What types of candy were popular in the 80s?
We are throwing an 80s party next month and I am doing favor gift bags. I want to include candy but can't figure out which candy was distinctly 80s... any thoughts are appreciated!
Re: What types of candy were popular in the 80s?
74 books read in 2011
I was a small child, so bear with me. I remember commercials for Whatchamacallit, candy bracelets, pop rocks, and Nerds. Not sure how 80s they are, necessarily, though.
ETA: And Bubble Tape
Thanks for the ideas! I just ordered a bunch of candy for the favor bags from this website:

In addition to what others have said:
Chunky, Now and Laters, Laffy Taffy, Ring Pops.
Tootsie pops, and Push Up Pops! How fun:)
Saf-T Pops (the ones that were always at the doctor office) candy lipstick! "Hot dog" bubblegum Candy cigarettes, "big chew" gum, squeeze pops, bubble tape for sure!!
I order stuff from these sites all the time, they are awesome!

Mi Casa
YUM, I wish I had never read this. Now, I want a whatchamacallit and some of those ET Reese's pieces.
It seems like cinnamon hot stuff was popular... atomic fire balls, red hots, hot tamales. I remember going to the pharmacy to get cinnamon oil to make cinnamon toothpicks. I bet you could still do that.
Does anyone remember the Marathon bar? It was braided caramel covered in chocolate. What about the strawberry Charleston Chew? When I was a kid, they had them in different flavors. They also had some kind of Wonka candy that was peanut butter covered in chocolate.
Now, I'm hungry.
