Hey ladies,
Just looking for some advice on what lens I should bring to London. I have a cheapo Tamron lens 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 that I never use but am considering bringing with me because it's light and the zoom range is good.
I was going to rent a 16-35 2.8 because I did that when I went to Japan and loved it. But I think I want to be able to zoom more and I really don't want to have to change lenses. I was also considering renting a 24-105 f/4 because I read it's a good walkaround lens. But it would cost me $109 to rent and now I'm thinking of just saving that money and using my Tamron. Plus, the 2 Canon lenses are heavy.
If I end up bringing the Tamron, would I just be better of using my P&S the whole trip? I mean, would it even be worth it to bring it? And should I also bring my 50mm 1.8?
Please help. I'm so indecisive!
Re: Photographers - help!
I can't take a decent picture with a p&s so I'd pick the dslr and heavy lenses, lol. Besides, if you leave the dslr at home, will you be traveling around London looking at everything and regretting that you didn't bring the 'big' camera? If it were me, I know I'd feel that way!
I'm gonna be a bad influence... You sure you don't want to go all out and rent the 70-200 2.8? You could bring that plus rent the 16-35 AND bring along your 50 and have a bunch of fun lenses to choose from.
Brady can carry some of it, right?
See, the only solution is to bring those 3 lenses.
You know, when I was living in Japan, I used my cheapo 75-300mm lens a LOT. It was able to take some decent pictures and the only reason why I wouldn't want to take it on a trip now is because I've been spoiled by the 70-200.
I think you'd be able to get lots of great shots with your Tamron so like Dior suggested, it might be smarter to bring that so that you can save your money to put towards another lens (oh, like the 70-200...) in the future.
The 70-200 is definitely on my list but I think my first purchase is gonna be the 24-70 2.8 so I can take lots of baby pics.
Then maybe the 70-200. And the 16-35 2.8. And someday the 50 1.2. A girl can dream, right?
