Re: How was your weekend?

  • it was crazy, and i am so woefully behind on the boards. last week was totally crazy at work.

friday was my mom's birthday, so we went over for a very late dinner. we also had the electricians in working on some things. they almost finished, but have to come back today for one more thing.

saturday a friend had a multi-family garage sale, so we took a bunch of stuff over. we made about $250 i think and got rid of a ton of crap, but it was so exhausting.

yesterday i was feeling very emotional. we ended up having a little argument over nothing, and then i cried for a while on her shoulder about a friend of mine who has terminal cancer. it really just hit me yesterday for some reason.

we also went disc golfing to a course in the woods and i fell twice, so now my wrist is kind of achy. i told her that i needed ice cream after that, so we stopped on the way home.

  • We took it pretty easy, which was much needed!  I got a lot of sleep and spent a lot of time lounging.  The work week is really making me tired these days!  I've also been really nauseous and having a hard time figuring out what foods don't make me feel queasy just by looking at them, so a low key weekend was just what the doctor ordered.

We did manage to get a little shopping done - bigger bras and jeans for my expanding waist and bust.  I'm wearing both today and am so much more comfortable!!

  • Friday night we went out to dinner and then I watched a documentary on 9/11. Why do I do that to myself?

Saturday I was up at 5:30 to get to the multiples consignment sale. Got a lot of pants for the kids - but slim pickings on shirts. The sale was so much better organized than last year. After the kids nap, we took them to their friend's preschool - they were having a kids' fair (little games, fire truck rides, crafts, and a great playground.) They had a blast. Then we went to our friends parents to have pizza and to play Wii while the kids played. Got home way too late for all of us.

Sunday L left to do school work and I took the kids for breakfast, to the grocery store, pet store, and Michaels. We played outside for awhile (it was so nice) but the neighbors got a new outdoor cat that was terrorizing my kids (it "talks" really loudly and loves to be petted so it constantly was coming into our yard - my kids are terrified of this silly cat.) Made banana bread and let the kids do crafts. We all took a much needed nap. L stopped working on her school stuff and we ran to the mall to return some clothes at LL Bean, dinner at the cheesecake factory, and then $.70 ice creams at the local dairy. When we got home at 8, we swore that we need to be home by 6 on Sunday nights now - there is just too much to do to get ready for Mondays.

I am so excited to have a 4 day work week (we leave Friday for my parents!) but we have a ridiculous amount to do before then. Blech.

  • Friday we went to my old highschool for a football game, and to see my sisters. Amanda preformed in the half time show, so we spent time eating walking tacos, and just watching the game. It was fun.

Saturday, my good friends mom got married, so we went to the wedding. It was goregous. When then left early b/c I wasn't feeling so well.

Sunday I called in sick to work, and spent it curled up in bed: I'm doing the same today.

  • We tried to keep ourselves busy and our minds off of today.

We took the girls shopping for a few fall outfits and to lunch. Can I just say how freaking adorable these clothes are? I can't wait to take a million pics.

We ran a bunch of errands and I am so proud of how well they both did. No major drama in the restaurants or the stores. It was so much fun to have people come over and ooh and ahh over them. One lady walked right up to us, told us how beautiful our family was and asked if we going to have more! I was so shocked at being treated like a "normal" family and so touched that they thought the girls were ours, I could barely answer.

It was such a nice weekend.

  • Saturday we went to lunch with a couple of friends. Our waitress asked us who Annie belonged to ( she was being passed around for lots of cuddles from her aunties) When I responded she belonged to Carol and I , she asked if she was adopted! I was kind of shocked. We get asked a lot who her parent is ( we always respond both of us)... and quite often that question is followed by who gave birth to her, but this is the first time we have been asked if she is adopted.

On Sunday we went to an Irish Feis near us. It was a lot of fun. There were pipe bands and irish dancers and lots of shopping. It was a good time except for a crabby baby. Annie is in the pre-teeth teething pain and gets cranky  and unconsolable when her teeth hurt.

All in all a good weekend.
