Calendar of fall events... what are you looking forward to?

Yesterday we all went to Shelburne Museum for the big dog event. It was a lot of fun! I love it there and hope to go one more time before it gets too cold. Henry was there for two hours without a morning nap and had a great time. He loved the Owl Cottage, carousel, ducks, fake horses in the sleigh barn.

Next weekend we are going to Shelburne Farm's Harvest Fest http://www.shelburnefarms.org/calendarofevents/chronocalendar.shtm on Saturday and Adam's Farm on Sunday http://www.upickvermont.com/festival.html. Here is a great link to area events (a lot are family friendly) http://www.findandgoseek.net/ If you arent part of Chittenden County Mom's and Dad's through Meetup.com that is another great resource.

What other great fall events are you looking forward to? Any great places to pick apples?

:~)

Re: Calendar of fall events... what are you looking forward to?

  • Hackett's Orchards and Allenholm Farm out in South Hero are both great orchards...they have Applefest on Columbus Day weekend which is a lot of fun for kids...free pony rides, vendors, craft fair, yard sales...it's probably my favorite thing in the fall, other than the Harvest Market in Underhill. That's Sept. 26-27 this year, I think.
  • We always go to Applefest and then Applepicking one other time...I'm thinking about trying Shelburne Orchards or Chapin's this season.  I might check out the Harvest Festival at Shelburne Farms and I've wanted to do the Underhill "gig" for a few years now but never make it...so maybe this year.  We have 3 back to back 1st birthday parties over the next few weeks too so that might fill up our ful tanks for the fall!

Good to hear from you though!  Maybe we'll run into each other at an event or two?

  • I just joined the group Chittenden County Mom's and Dad's through Meetup.com...I haven't gone to any meetups yet though. Would you take a 4 1/2 month to any of the upcoming events?

  • I would take a 4 1/2 month old to just about anything on meetup but that doesn't mean there will be others there - the problem with the meetup group (for me) is that it is so huge and nothing is really "age appropriate".  I lucked out on my first outing when G was 6 weeks old and, in a sea of older kids, met a great gal and her 6 week old daughter...we still get together about once a week a year later!

So, with that said, if you don't mind a mix of kids, then jump right in!  If you are looking for a group of moms and babes in the same place as you, you might not find it there...and WITH THAT SAID, the Williston playgroup at the library (wed am from 10:30-12, no meeting the first wed of the month) is a great playgroup and right now they are PACKED with 3-6 month olds...I think this week there were at least 5.  I have made some great friends there and so has Gianna!  : )
