Planning Trip to Dallas Area - Recommendations?

Good morning ladies! My husband and I are planning a trip to Dallas next month.  Any hotel, restaurant, or sight-seeing recommendations are greatly welcomed!!  We're already planning on the 6th floor museum and Six Flags.

Thank you in advance Big Smile

Re: Planning Trip to Dallas Area - Recommendations?

  • I love the Jewel hotel!
  • I don't know if you have a preference for your hotel location - Dallas (where the Sixth Floor Museum is located), or Arlington (where Six Flags is located), but I can recommend the Hotel Lawrence in downtown Dallas.  It's a small hotel within walking distance to the Sixth Floor Musuem.  The only other hotel I've stayed in downtown is the Adams Mark, which is very large.  Personally, I prefer the Hotel Lawrence, although nothing was wrong with the Adams Mark.  There are other unique, smaller hotels in that general area that I'm sure some others on here could personally recommend.  I think the hotels around Six Flags are your standard chain hotel/motels, like Holiday Inn and such.

Restaurant/Bars in Dallas: Tillman's Roadhouse, La Duni (they have a location in NorthPark mall, which is a really nice mall if you're interested in shopping too), Manny's in Uptown, Gloria's, Twisted Root Burgers, Times Ten Cellars, The Gingerman, The Flying Saucer, Eno's, Campisi's, Keller's Drive-In (not much in the way of ambiance, but damn good, cheap burgers and beer)

Stuff to Do in Dallas: NorthPark for shopping, The Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Arboretum, State Fair of Texas, Dallas World Aquarium is supposed to be really cool, walk around/shop/eat in Bishop Arts District

    HTH!

  • I liked visiting the Money Factory (north Fort Worth).  There are only two places in the US where paper money is printed.  It's a free visit and a free tour.  Then, if you're out this far, you can go south and stop at the Stockyards in downtown Fort Worth (maybe catch a rodeo), then take 30 back to a hotel in Arlington.

    Enjoy

  • If you do venture out to Fort Worth I have a list of things I give to my visitors to help them decide what they are going to do.  I could send it to you if you're interested.
