Halloween Drink Ideas

I am starting to plan our 3rd annual Halloween Costume Party and can't decide on a drink. Any ideas?

Re: Halloween Drink Ideas

  • For a punch: I can't find the recipe online, but we did equal parts of coconut rum, light rum, & dark rum... then added pineapple juice & 1 bottle of grenadine... make ice in a kitchen glove & float on top (I added a bit of red food coloring to the water to make it look like blood)

  • I came up with this caramel apple martini when I had a fall themed party a couple years ago. I bartend as a side job and come up with stuff like this every now and again.

    Caramel Apple Martini

    3 ounces spiced vodka

     2 ounces sour apple schnapps

    1 ounce butterscotch schnapps

    1 teaspoon Amaretto

    1/2 teaspoon vanilla

    2 teaspoons cinnamon

    1 tablespoon sugar

    graham cracker crumbs

    Apple slices

Yield: 2 large or 3 small servings

  • Martha Stewart has a massive Halloween section on her website.  I'd look there.
  • Last year I bought Dole Paradise Blend which is a juice blend of different fruits (available in supermarket near orange juice).  It's a nice orange color.  I put in a punch bowl and added pineapple rum.  It was sooo good!  I am doing the same thing this year.  You can add as much or as little alcohol as you want.  You can also use any type of fruit rum or even vodka.  The color is perfect.  Last year I saw a brain ice mold at Target that I didn't get so I am hoping they have it again this year or something similar.  It would look so cool in the bowl!

Also take a peek at the current issue of Food Network magazine.  They have a couple Halloween cocktails in there.

  • Our last Halloween party, we had over 40 people at our house and I didn't want to have to be stuck making drinks for the time they were at our house (a neighborhood progressive party, so everyone was there for only 1.5 hours).  Therefore, we chose to have a punch.  I chose to make an easy one with grape kool-aid and vodka (looks almost black!) and I found the recipe on the internet.  I put the punch in our punch bowl, then placed the punch bowl in a cauldron that I found at a party supply store, then put dry ice around the punch bowl.  It looked pretty cool!  I also made some candy corn jello shots.  Those were pretty easy, too.  I took small clear plastic cups and first made orange jello (1/2 water and 1/2 vodka).  After letting them set up, I made the next layer of lemon jello (1/2 water and 1/2 vodka).  Right before serving, I topped them with Redi-Whip.  Everyone loved them!  They were bigger than a "shot" so I had to serve them with a spoon.

Another idea, is using any drink that has tonic water in it.  If you have black lights (we put them in our pendants over our kitchen island), the tonic water will glow a funky blue color, which adds for a cool ambience.  We filled up giant martini glasses with the tonic water and floated eyeball candles in them, instead of serving drinks with tonic water.

We also offered beer, soda and bottled water for other choices.
