Men??

Okay, I have a good one for all the nest fans.  my husband just sold his car for $1,100.00, of which I was going to use to pay off his dell card for buying a tv for $800.00.  Now my husband just called and told me he was going to by a $100.00 fish filter.  What the Hell??  My husband has no job and credit card debt that I would like to pay off.  What should I do?

Re: Men??

  • Paying off debt should be number one priority especially if he is unemployed.  It is also time for a check on his priorities.  this is a tough economy and he may be unemployed for awhile.  I think a serious talk about his spending habits is in order.

  • If he sold it for $1,100 and is spending $100 that means you would still have $1,000 left to pay down the credit card.  That sounds reasonable to me.  He probably feels that since it was his car that he's entitled to buy a little something with that money.  I would not make a big deal of it but at the same time I'd make it clear that the rest is going to pay the credit card bill.

  • It sounds like you two need to sit down and have a conversation about your goals with your finances and the plan for paying things off/spending.  Good luck.
