Did you get teh AppleCare Protection Plan with your Iphone?

Just curious.  Is it just a gimmick to get more money?

Sure did and dh has used his already.  Nope, not a gimmick. He called in gave them the serial number and within a day he had a new Iphone. He then just had to send his old one back in a prepaid postage box.

No, it doesn't protect against accidental damage like if you drop it on the ground or in water and it stops working.

That would be why you don't tell them it was dropped (water obviously you would have to tell them as it is kinda obvious).  Pretty sure that is what happened to dh's phone.  He's a klutz and I'm sure he dropped it more times than he said he did.

Except that if it was within a year of purchase they would have refunded anyway.  You can purchase the plan at any point, you don't have to do it at time of purchase of the iphone.

I'm planning to get it before the 1 year warranty is up, because I've heard a lot of people say that the battery can die after a year or so...and a new battery would probably cost close to the same as the warranty.
