Xbox Media Extender?

Anyone do this with a traditional Xbox and the Media Extender disc?  My Dad used to, but my sister broke the disc and now they can't find another to replace it - they're desperately trying to figure some way to get their shows off the computer (over the network) and on to the TV in the living room.

Re: Xbox Media Extender?

  • I use a program called TVersity available at http://tversity.com/  Just save your shows in a folder on your computer, install TVersity, add the folder with your shows in it to the library on TVersity.  When you start TVersity it should start sharing, then when you are on the Xbox dashboard, go to myvideos and look for the folder with your videos in it.   You can even set it up to share a web adress with the Xbox so you could watch a YouTube video thru Xbox, or another streaming website. It works great for us!  I'm sure if you google, you can find other instructions.  Good luck!
  • Oooh - so you don't have to have the Media Extender disc to get to the folder on the computer?!  AWESOME.  I'm forwarding this on to my Dad right now.  THANKS!
  • Nope, we don't use it.  Forgot to mention that both the xbox and computer are on our home network since DH has xbox live.  I don't think you have to have an xbox360 for it to work, but that's what DH has. Shoot, hope that didn't mess anything up for you!
