Windows 7 beta?

Anyone using it? Thoughts?

To me it doesn't seem that much different then Vista, except for the obvious, my machine runs better.

Re: Windows 7 beta?

  • Nope.  I'm fine with XP Professional and see no need to be an early adopter... or rather Beta Tester/Bug Finder...
  • Supposedly the RTM version is much better than the Beta, but I haven't been able to get my hands on a copy yet.

  • I've been running the Windows 7 release candidate on my hubby's computer for several months and I liked it so much that I bought the upgrade a little while back for $50.

I don't know how much the upgrade will retail for, but imho it's both stable and worth looking at. I don't use Vista, even the university I work at doesn't run Vista, but it's definitely worth it if you're running XP and you know that your computer can handle it.

  • It is significantly better than Vista.  There were numerous changes to its User Account Control settings, as well as several performance enhancements.  I'm not entirely sure what all is different than Vista since I never could get used to Vista, but I've been using 7 RTM (from MSDN) for over a month and I love it.  I won't go back.
  • I like it, it's definitely a lot faster than Vista, although there are still somethings that annoy me and that I'm finding it hard to get used to.  I really hate the whole pinning/unpinning things to the task strip (although I am thrilled I can now resort my items on the task strip without a third party tool).
