River Forest

Can anyone tell me about this suburb?  I went and visited last weekend with dh.  We were just walking around Oak Park and River Forest.  Did a little research, and it looks like the River Forest schools are a bit better (numberwise).  Wondering if the people in River Forest are as progressive, openminded, and nice as Oak Park?

Also, if you had to choose between living in a TH in Oak Park or River Forest and they cost the same, which would you choose and why?

Re: River Forest

  • From what I know about River Forest ( I went to Concordia University), it is a lot of very wealthy families, they are nice but a little snobby. Oak Park is probably more open minded and progressive and a little trendier. River Forest is probably safer, though. This is just a general view, and I really haven't been there in a while, so maybe it has changed.
  • I was born and raised in Oak Park and I think it is a great place to live. Both towns have alot of wealthy people but yes more so River Forest. The further north in Oak Park you go the bigger the houses get. My family lives right in the middle around Oak Park Ave and the Green line and it has always been safe even being right by the train. The schools are good too. I would base your decision on which home you like since either place would be good to live.?
