Garbage Pick-up Bill?

So on the D&R Board they were asking how much do we pay for garbage pick up and then I realized, I have never received a garbage/recycling bill. So for the homeowners out there...how much is it and when do you get the bill? Is it attached to another bill?

Um....I don't think we pay for it directly.  I mean, that's what taxes are for, no?  We've owned the house over a year and never got a garbage bill.  I never heard my parents talking about a garbage bill either.

Although, we didn't get a water bill for almost a year because they  were sending the bill to our old apartment - why would you send a water bill for a house to an address that is not that house!?!  So, who knows, there may be a garbage bill floating around for us somewhere too.

They did this to us too. 

 We don't have to pay a separate garbage/recycling bill in NYC.  It's just built into yoru property taxes.

this.  I know in NJ and LI and almost everywhere else, you do have to pay for your garbage pickup.  This one of the things I love about NYC though, after living here my life I can't imagine going somewhere else and having to pay somebody to take my garbage, not to mention the strict restrictions on how much you can throw out and that it's extra for recycling.

Oh ok, thanks that makes sense! I would have loved to never receive a water bill for a year. ...unless I had to pay one lump sum or something.
