I heard about it last night as it was happening.  My dad works at Lowe's across the street and said you could see the fire for miles.  One of his friends saw it from Target in Nashua and called him because it looked like Lowe's was on fire the way the smoke was blowing.  Am I imagining things or did part of this building burn before?  I could have sworn there was a smaller fire there about 8 years ago.

wow, that's crazy! Thanks for the info! I didn't see this on the news or anything. Oh sh*t, actually I saw the smoke last night when I left work and I had no idea where it was coming from. This makes sense now. How awful!

The article may say this already, but there were no sprinklers in those businesses.  So sad that this could all have been avoided.

I saw the smoke last night from Brookline around 730, then the scene was still very active when I drove home past it at 10:30. Even this morning, they're still there!  Definitely makes sense that there was some type of problem (ie no sprinklers).

that's great....no sprinklers + truss construction = disaster!  Those little strip malls like that are nightmare and a firefighter's worse nightmare.  The roofs on those babies go down in minutes because of failure due to high heat.
