Does anyone know if they make the 'hotspot' cards that would fit into an sd slot? We aaare contemplating going the non phone pda route (old fshioned, I know) but would like to have internet on them. I was thinking if we paid the internet fee on one card, we could switch it bck and forth. Is this sound logic?
Re: wireless hotspot cards
They do! (That is, if I understand you correctly.) I have one for my PDA.
Just search for "SD WiFi" and you should come up with a ton. Make sure you find one that's compatible for your PDA.Good luck!
Well, if you want one where you can get internet through a cell phone service, you'll have to see what kind of internet cards they provide. You can maybe find a USB to SD converter (though I've never heard of one).
For a regular WiFi card, though, you'll definitely need to be within range of a hot spot.
Actually, the Verizon MiFi would be perfect for you!
While you can plug the MiFi in via USB, it can also operate on its own. It can connect to Verizon's high-speed network and create a small WiFi network from that. Verizon's site says that the battery on the MiFi will last about 4 hours that way, but you don't have to have it plugged into the device you want for the connection to work.
