FYI: Pumpkin

I'm sure no one else here cares, but there is reportedly a pumpkin shortage in some areas.  (Yes, you can laugh, it's okay.  Maybe this belonged in the Random Thoughts of yesterday!)

I thought "Pfft! We'll go to buy some and there'll be SHELVES of it!!" and dismissed it.

Until Greg went to Walmart... and the shelves were EMPTY.  And then I went to a diffrent large grocery chain... and they too were empty with a sign "We are currently unable to provide this product at this time.  Sorry for the inconvenience."

Thankfully, several of his grocery accounts are in less-populated areas and therefore had pumpkin.  So he got a half dozen cans and is going to check a few others.

So just an FYI.  I've read everything from it lasting through September to through November!!!

That's not good, especially with Thanksgiving coming up.  I should stock up, not that I use a lot of pumpkin but was planning on making something pumpkin related this year.

I have never used pumpkin when cooking.  But, like Melanie said, TG is coming up so that can't be good.

That was MH's thought "OMG... Thanksgiving!!!" LOL

We use pumpkin for Xena's Kongs... so if you take pumpkin out of the equation, she's going to be REALLY sick and tired of peanut butter, yogurt, and cottage cheese is kind of gross. LOL

Plus, nothing says fall to me like pumpkin/spiced stuff.  And like I said.. I'm on a "nesting" kick.

I don't do canned pumpkin, but I look forward to "real" pumpkins every. single. year.  They can't do this to me!!!

I'll have to look this weekend when we go to the store because i definately wanted to make some pumpkin items.

I didn't know there was a shortage, but I went to the store and thought I'll pick some up because I was pretty sure I only had one can at home, but they didn't have any.  I'll check again and if I can't find any I'll have to have my mil check her store!

I will definitly be on the lookout.  We don't use it a whole lot but I am responsible for pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving.  Can't go without that.

This was EXACTLY how I'd reacted. LOL  And then I mildly panicked.  No pumpkin goodies for fall?!?

There didn't seem to be a shortage of pumpkin at my store but I stocked up just in case.
