Last night two of my friends and I went to Feast in Wicker Park for their monthly wine tasting. The tasting featured wines from Italy and France, it was from 7 to 9 and it was $20. They do it monthly and next month is wines from California, I think.
I thought it was a great time! There were about 25 really differnt wines to sample and each staff member had between 4 to 6 types at his "station" set up at various points throughout the room. You could pick and choose which wines you wanted to try and they'd tell you the region of origin and special things you should know about it. You had the choice to only taste reds or only wines, or jump around between the two, or go back for seconds for the ones you really liked. It was really flexible and very very generous amounts of wine! And at the end of the night, they just let you pour full glasses with whatever they had leftover after everybody had tried everything.
The only thing I'd do differently is probably eat a little more before I came. The flyer said h'ordueves from Goddess and Grocer and I guess I was expecting a little more than a cheese tray. But no big deal b/c the highlight of the night was definitely the wine!
Re: Review: Feast Wine Tastings
Yup, always on a Wednesday I think. Going out on the weekdays for a few cocktails is my favorite thing! I am getting too old to keep up with all the crowds and lines on the weekend nights.
That is very true. I guess since we don't know anybody here, we rarely go out and do anything, besides dinner every once and awhile. It seems silly to spend all this money to go to bars and clubs when its just the two of us (and we can sit at home and enjoy each others company and our own liquor). I think that a weekday thing like this could work out well - I'll have to start hinting at it now, give it a month to settle in.
