New to the board again!

I have been off and on visiting this board.  My husband and I are celebrating our 4 year anniversary this weekend and we are looking forward to adopting siblings next August.  Have any of you adopted in Milwaukee?  What agency?  We are looking at foster care adoption, so if anyone a specifically chosen that route I would love to hear from you.  I can't wait to start this chapter of my life and marriage!   I am also looking forward to chatting with other Moms who have adopted!

TIA!

Re: New to the board again!

  • Welcome.  Very exciting about the adoption. Not sure how many have done it on this board, but  on the bump there is a board dedicated to it.

  • Thanks, for the well wishing!  I have been on that adoption board this year, I was just hoping to find someone adopting in this area.  Much like pregnancy, there is a ton to learn, many fears, hopes and anticipation!  It would be great to find someone to help us steer clear of a bad agency, let us know what to expect and be a ear to talk to.
  • I can not even begin to imagine the stress and anxiety you are facing.  Good luck.  I hope we get to see a great family pic soon.

  • My sister is a social worker in charge of adoptions in Milw where they also have foster kids, etc. But, that's the closest I am to adoption- we haven't started having kids yet
  • The only thing I can offer is that I was adopted in the Milwaukee area, and just met my birthmom. My parents went through Children Service Society.

  • Thanks Ladies!

Already in my life I have met so many amazing people because we are adopting.  I have met parents that have foster adopted a child in the past and had such a great experience they were adopting another child!  That gives me such hope, that no matter the difficulties, there will be a day, when I am called Mom!   Well, I will keep all of you updated as a live threw the process of adopting siblings!

DH says I can't turn the guest bedroom in to the kids room until I am "pregnant".  We want to be certified by August of 2010 so I guess I will be a shopping fool in December!

     Wish me luck!

P.S.  Congrats on the wedding, Officers Wife!  You were glowing in your pics!
