sigh, we had to resod in January and then we hired a lawn company. Well the lawn died (again) and they said it was cinch bugs and the HOA demanded we resod again. We did it 2 months ago and the lawn died AGAIN, turns out we have root rot. So now we'll have to resod again, we've dropped like 2K on the lawn so far this year and haven't even started on buying all the shizz for the baby b/c we keep having to replace the lawn, which will die again b/c it is St. Augustine and it is prone to root rot. Fail.
Re: My HOA can kiss my grass
Geek and I's HOA does not allow any other type of grass. I like St. Augustine grass but its definitely high maintenance with our weather. I hadnt had any issues with my grass until this year and now I have one dead patch that I may have to resod next spring.
Geek, Scotts does fertilizing on our lawn and I think that is what has saved us from having major issues. Maybe call them out for a quote! They do several homes in our neighborhood.
Also, I did not realize our HOA was still getting strict on the grass. There are so many crappy looking yards in our neighborhood that news shocks me! There is one house by the mailbox thing opposite the pool that not only has one of the worst yards ever but a tree that is so overgrown I just want to go trim it myself. He let the branches grow so low you can cannot even walk under the thing!
In any case, I hope your yard improves soon. But I agree...HOA can kiss it.
Root rot happens when you overwater. And if it's cinch bugs, you need a pest control company. It would be much less expensive than a new lawn. If your HOA allows bahia grass, you can actually SEED that.... much less expensive!
Anyway, if you need a pest control/fertilization company, let me know - my hubby does this
Ack! I just read that you can't use bahia - I'm sorry!
Well I see that Scotts does your neighbor's lawns... but still... if you want the best in the industry (LOL - I may be biased... but he really is good), you can PM me.
Good luck! I'm sorry you're going through this and so much money when you have baby on the way
Tell your hubby to key the Prez's car on his walk with the dog. I promise I wont tell.
I cant believe you had to lay the sod!
