Vera Bradley Anyone?

I'm trying to narrow down my purse collection and switch a few items to a new pattern. I've tried selling them on Craigslist and sold a few of them however, I still have a few more to sell and I haven't gotten any nibbles. I really would prefer to avoid ebay since I don't have the time really to learn and mess with a whole new system. Anyway, any suggestions? Anyone know of anyone who might like them? Do consignment shops take them? Plato's Closet??? Thank you...  Oh and here they are...

I really appreciate it...

  • oops.. dunno why the link won't work... hmm... anyway, you have mail.
  • I'm sure many consignment shops would love to have them.  Probably NOT Plato's Closet, however, cuz they are marketed toward teens and I just don't know many teens who carry Vera B's...

Try some upscale consignment shops in Indy or Louisville.

  • I consign (and shop) at the Toggery in Broad Ripple.  http://toggeryresale.tripod.com  I've enjoyed the experience of cleaning out my closets and adding to it- but not spending a dime in the process!

I'm sure the owner would take VB, but I'm not sure you'd be happy with the financial return.  There's more info on her  policy page on the website, but she typically charges about half of full original retail.  Then, you split the amount that it sells for with them for 50/50.  So, let's say a purse is valued at $100.  She'll price it for $50, and if it sells at that price, you'll get $25 and she'll get $25.  You take the risk that if it stays there longer (and doesn't get sold), she can lower the price. There are also additional fees if it is your first time consigning and if you consign less than 12 items.  I was surprised how quickly I found 12 items, though!

For high end value items that you could probably do better to sell by yourself.  BUT, I can tell you that many of my clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc. are purchased on sale to start with, so I end up doing pretty good... especially since I take in items that are just sitting in my closet waiting for me to fit into them or find the perfect pants/shirt to accompany them.  I can also say that the owner does a great job being selective of the pieces she brings in... this sucks sometimes because she turns away some clothes, but it is helpful because the clothes have a quick turnaround and shopping there is a good experience.

    Good luck!
