Recommend your Verizon Phone ( texting only )

I am coming up for my " new every 2 " in October.

Right now I have the EnV, it's okay, but I realized I don't need the internet.

We are cutting back, so I'll take off my media package so I have texting only, I will be saving about $30 a month.  H has a BB so he has to have the media package.

Anyone have any cool text only phones !?!  I'd prefer something that is touch screen, but I don't know if any of those can only have texting.

Thanks.

I was looking at the LG Versa ... any reviews ?

Re: Recommend your Verizon Phone ( texting only )

  • I use T-Mobile, so I won't be of too much help here.  I have two coworkers with Verizon phones for texting though.

If you want a phone for texting that also has a touch screen, look at the Motorola Rival.  A coworker of mine has it, and while he does curse at it from time to time, I don't think he's ever had problems texting on it.  It has a full keyboard and a touch screen.

  • I have the LG Voyager.  It has a touch screen and QWERTY keypad, which makes writing texts much easier.  However, it comes with all the extras for internet use, etc.  Even though I have all those options, I don't use them, and we recently made the same decision on our plan.
  • I am in love with my Samsung Alias - my sis just got the Alias 2 and swears she loves it even more than her last Alias.

Verizon's website has them so you can take a look right on there.

  • Why do you need a media package for an EnV? We don't have it on mine - which is the reason we got it. Texting but no media plan needed.
  • Just got the Samsung Intensity a few days ago to replace my POS Glyde. Swore I'd never get another Samsung phone, but did anyway and so far am loving it. I have zero complaints. It doesn't have a camcorder though, if that's important to you. But I text all the time and it's great, buttons are a pretty good size.
  • I have the Env2 and I only do texting. No internet no add-ons. I love it!
  • We're on Verizon also and you don't *have* to have the media plan. With the blackberry, yes, without it you won't be able to do things like surf the internet etc. However, if all you are interested in having is the texting capabilities, then you pick whatever phone you'd like and just don't get the media plan added.

FWIW - my new in 2 is coming up in October also. I want to get a phone that specifically has WiFi capability so I can use some of those features, but don't have to pay for the media plan. That's how we have my DH's HTC smart phone right now. The bad thing is that Verizon doesn't offer many phones that do Wifi. But....

They just put out the new HTC Touch Pro 2, which not only has a full keyboard, but also a touch screen and Wifi. Since it's a smart phone using Windows Mobile you can also download apps for it.

I've also heard that there will be a new Blackberry Storm 2 coming out in the next few months on Verizon that will also have Wifi. For me personally, Im trying to decide if I should go ahead and get the Touch Pro 2 that has everything I'm looking for, or wait a few months and see if I like the Storm 2 better.

That was a lot of info, I know but good luck!

  • I have the EnV, do not have the media package. I love mine!
