Irrational Sad :o(

I was in the shower this morning and notice a dark spot on my wedding band.  Take a closer look and notice that the middle diamond fell out.  I started crying in the shower.  Showed DH the ring, started crying again.  He looked at me like I was crazy. I don't know why I was so upset.

The kicker: I was planning on taking my ring to the jeweler tomorrow for it's 6 month check up.  I really hope I am within the 6 month time frame so it's covered by the warranty.  I have no idea how much a loose diamond costs.  Not that it is big my any stretch of the imagination but I don't want to pay for something that is covered by the warranty we took out.

  • I don't find that irrational.  I would cry too.  I hope it's covered though!

  • I'm sorry Mel, I would be sad too. I hope they can fix it and you don't have to pay extra. Are you PMSing? Or really tired? Those are usuallymy excuses when I am extra emotional lol.

  • No, aunt flow just ended earlier this week.  I cry over the stupidish $hit now.  Having David makes me a big sap now.

  • I am sorry, that sucks.  I would be sad too, it's the original diamond from your wedding.  Do you have insurance?
  • I hope it's covered.

  • I would be really upset too. I hope that warranty will cover it so that you dont have to worry about it.
  • No, we don't have separate insurance on our jewelry. That too is something that's on my to-do list.  I know that our house insurance covers up to a certain $ amount but I'm sure the cost to replace is less than my deductible and I don't want my insurance premiums to go up due to a claim.

The extended warranty covers lost diamonds and such as long as I get it checked every 6 months. I'm pretty sure I am still within the 6 month period, it just sucks though.

Overall, I'm glad it wasn't my e-ring since the diamonds are a little bit bigger and not covered by any extended warranty (the jeweler is not my favorite person, that is another story)

This is exactly what I thought, too both on being sad and the insurance.

I'm sorry, Melanie... and I cry at the weirdest things/moments too.  But your wedding band is a very sentimental thing!  It's understandable you're so upset!

Just so you know, if you are thinking of getting it...we have a separate jewelry policy so it is separate from our home insurance.  Its not expensive at all, considering.

  • I plan on getting one, especially now.  I was looking through our home owner's insurance (which DH set-up) and I'm not 100% happy with some of the items. I think we need to increase it a bit.

We have my rings insured and I agree completely.

I'm sorry you lost one of your diamonds! I would be upset too. I hope you're still within the 6 month warranty window.

I have a separate jewelry policy as well and mine is about $100 for every $10,000 for the year.
