Estate planning recs please
Hi - does anyone have recs for a family/estate planning attorney?
Has anyone used PersonalFamilyLawyer.com (they advertise on The Bump)?
Just looking to get things rolling. We got life insurance before I had DS but we need to get our legal stuff in order (establish a family trust, wills, etc).
Thanks!
Re: Estate planning recs please
I would not do a will, estate or trust on line in my opinion. Too many reasons to make an error and then it's all been a waste of time. If you have over 100k in assets (which most of us do in LA, considering our homes) what you want to set up is a family trust.
We just went through this process and found an excellent estate family planning lawyer in the San Fernando Valley. It's not cheap to set up everything, around $3k for everything but so worth it for peace of mind. Once set up you only need to make ammendmets when you have more kids, etc. I think if you find a real human lawyer charging less than $1000 to set up your stuff, something is fishy.
Good luck! It's a long process -- takes them weeks to have the drafts sent to you!!
