Pumpkin Patch or Apple Orchards

Hi Ladies,

Please recommend your favorite Pumpkin Patch or Apple Orchard!  I've heard Edwards in Poplar Grove is a good place to go.  Any other ideas?  My DH and I are pretty new to the area and would love to do some fun fall activities.

 TIA,

Christen L

Re: Pumpkin Patch or Apple Orchards

  • We go to Sonny Acres every year.  Its on North Ave. in West Chicago.  There isn't a ton to do there, but its fun and we make it a tradition since we started dating on Halloween :)

  • I grew up in the western suburbs, so we too go to Sonny Acres every year! DH feels a bit childish, but I love it so much he now looks forward to it too.
  • there is goebberts pumpkin patch in the Schaumburg/hoffman estates area.  it opens later this month and it is PACKED every weekend until halloween.
  • I just heard about Edwards yesterday at work - one of my coworkers goes every year.  Also, Goeberts opens next weekend, if I read the sign right.  They are a great pumpkin patch.

  • Finally transitioning from the knot. I went up to Apple Holler in Kenosha last weekend and they have the pumpkin patch open as well as the apple orchards (as of last Sunday they still had pears as well). Lots of goodies in the store, pretty good food, close to the cheese factories and brat stops. Also, about 10 minutes to the outlets at Pleasant Prarie. Hope that helps!
  • My parents used to take me to Sonny Acres when I was little and I loved it!  They have hay rides, petting zoo, corn maze, rides, a couple of little haunted houses, and barns with costumes, decorations, and food for sale.

This might be a bit far for you but Kuipers Family Farm in Elburn is also SO much fun.  They have apple picking, a huge corn maze, and make thier own donuts and cider.  Across the street they have tons of rides and pumpkins.

Good luck, I LOVE Halloween time and going to all of these places.

  • We go to Edwards every year.  It's great!  The have very yummy doughnuts.
  • Kuipers family farm in maple park or Apple Holler are very good.
