Photoshop help please

I am trying to change the orrentiation of digital pictures that i have taken of my son.  They are in a landscape layout and I would like to change them to a portrait layout.  Any advise will help.

Re: Photoshop help please

  • Open a new document in portrait layout whatever size you want 8x10 or 5x7 etc.  Depending on how many megapixels your camera, size of the picture,  will depend on the size of the resolution.  It's trial and error.  Start with 300.  You can change the resolution in image size.

Crop your landscaped photo using a set size (you can change at the top of the crop option width/height) that will crop it in portrait.  Drag that to the new document you opened.

If it's too small you will need to make the resolution smaller.  Delete the layer before you change it or it will be pixelated.  Too big make resolution higher.

Try a different size resolution and drag the picture over again.  I hope this helps and isn't too confusing.  Let me know if you need more help!

  • One more thing... don't change the resolution of the picture.  Only change the resolution on the document you are dragging it to.

  • Are you just trying to rotate all of these landscape photos or do you mean to crop them so they are the same proportions but in portrait layout?

If you just want to rotate them, you don't need photoshop.  Most picture viewers on any system will have an option to rotate the photo and then save it.
