Your siggie of Brianna and Tigger is killing me right now. How did she do with the characters in general?
Re: **maura**
Thanks!! Brianna LOVED the characters!!! She couldn't get enough of them. When it was our turn, we let her walk right up to them. She would touch their faces, and kiss their noses, and just stare at them! I think she liked Tiger the best because when we were about to leave, she ran right back to Tiger and gave him a big hug!! It was great to see her like that!! I'm sure Alex we'll be the same way!!!
awww that is awesome. We have a breakfast booked for the Playhouse Disney characters over in the "hollywood" studios, b/c they have the Little Einsteins and that is just his favorite by far. I'm hoping he's ok with it!
Did you take her on any rides? If so, which ones? Were there any that you thought would be ok that weren't? I want to take him on It's A Small World, but I can't remember if it is too dark or not, or if they have belts, etc...I'm spazzing.
We had wanted to do a character breakfast, but we were late booking it and didn't get in. They were saying they book 180 days in advance!! = )
We took her on Its a Small World ( not too dark at all), Peter Pans Flight, Aladin, Jungle Trek, Phillar Magic. Those are all at Magic Kingdom and are great for small kids. There are a ton of rides that you will be able to take him on at your descretion. To my surprise alot of the rides ( kid rides) don't have height requirements and as long as you are comfortable taking him on then its ok. All the rides have belts, not too worry! We also saw The Finding Nemo musical at Animal Kingdom. Its a 30 min show, but really cute. Brianna actually paid attention to some of it and wasn't too squirmy. Alex would probably really like that show. It has lots of music, colors and people running all around. At Epcot they have a Finding Nemo ride that we wanted to go on, but didn't. I've also hear the 3D Muppet show at Hollywood Studios is hilarious!! Its right by Indiana Jones. That was closed when we were there. Another good ride to go on is Pirates of the Carribean at Magic Kingdom. That ride was also closed for maintence while we were there. But, when we were in Disney last May and Brianna was only acouple months old we took her on that.
I recommend taking a stroller thats comfortable for Alex and has lots of room to store stuff underneath. We debated on taking the MacLaren or the Graco travel system one. We decided on the Graco and I am SO glad we did! Its more comfortable than the Maclaren, and it reclines farther back. It was perfect for when Brianna fell asleep and for just hanging out. She had her feet resting on the snack tray all the time! The storage underneath was great for the diaper bag, food, ponchos etc. I would highly recommend getting a rain guard for the stroller. It rains often there but doesnt' last long. It rained really bad one night while we were at Hollywood Studios. We didn't have a rain guard and Brianna got pretty wet, not soaked but wet. We had to buy her new clothes and a poncho = ) The parks have these baby care centers. Its a place to change the baby ( other then bathroo), nurse etc. They also have alittle store stocked with baby "stuff" incase you forget something while in the parks.
You will have a fabulous time!!!! Where are you staying? We are thinking of going back sometime in late August for a long weekend. We have enough points with our timeshare... so we may!!
Thanks for taking the time to put so much info into your post, Maura- I appreciate any advice you can give! I will be buying another stroller, a lightweight umbrella one, for the trip b/c I really don't want to bring my Peg and risk someone making off with it while we are on a ride. It's also black and I feel like alex would roast in it.
Glad to hear about the rides, too. And Brianna was able to nap while you guys were in the parks? That's fantastic. I was hopeful but planning on roaming back to the hotel. We're staying at the Beach Club right next to Epcot, across the lake from the Boardwalk. It has a big water park that Alex can play around in so we're not a slave to the parks. He loves the water, so that's why we picked that one. We're going to be there over Labor Day weekend since DH's birthday is 8/29...looking forward to it although I am obsessing about finding a wide brimmed yet cute hat for myself, since I won't be able to go on many rides to get out of the sun.
Yes, Brianna napped about twice a day. I think the heat really played a number in her sleeping, that and the fact that she was just so exhausted from everything. We were on the go everyday!! The strollers do get hot, thats for sure and I can understand being nervous about someone taking it while you are on a ride. Each ride has " stoller parking" which is a designated area, roped off, that all the strollers are parked in. Most of the time its unattended so you don't want to leave anything thats valuable.
We stayed at the Boardwalk, so I know right where you are talking about! The Boardwalk has a great outdoor pool, waterslide and kiddie pool. I didn't know The Beach Club had more of a water park! Brianna also loves the water and was happy as a clam wading through the kiddie pool! The great thing about staying in that area is that you can take a water taxi to Epcot and to Hollywood Studios.. so the only park you'd have to travel to would be Magic Kingdom.
The sun is definately hot down there, even at 7pm!! I was putting sunscreen on Brianna atleast 6-7 times a day. Its hot and humid, but its so fun!!
If we do plan to go down the end of August, it would fun to meet up have dinner one night, or late the kids swim around together! = )
If you have any other questions please let me know!!
it would def. be fun to get the kids together. How funny if it finally worked out for us to get together in FL. ha.
Yeah, the Beach/Yacht Club has Stormaway Bay, the mini water park, that only guests of those two places are allowed to use. I think that if you google it, you'll get more info. It's actually pretty hardcore. Alex would be content with any sort of pool system, but I think this will just be icing on the cake. The proximity to two parks was the kicker for us. We had originally thought about staying at a moderate, but in honor of DH's birthday, I kicked in the extra few hundred and just said F it.
