first anniversary ideas

Our 1 year anniversary is October 5th. So I had intentions of getting DH some tickets to a sporting event (which he would love btw) but since he is still using crutches from his broken ankle (it's been over a month now.... ugh) he wouldn't be able to do the stairs at a sporting event.

I have no idea what to get him now... I'd like to stick with the traditional yearly gifts (ticket for paper). I can't get him to leave the house let alone go away or even out to eat with these damn crutches. Thoughts?

Re: first anniversary ideas

  • Could the tickets be for an event in November or December?  Hopefully by then he will off the crutches....

  • Is there a piece of art he would like?  Or if he's really into sports what about looking for an autographed print or something along those lines.  That sucks that he's still on the crutches.  He must be so tired of them.  I was on crutches for 2.5 weeks for my knee surgery and I felt so helpless...definitely frustrating!
  • You know just another thought...if you really want to get him tickets for a sporting event you might be able to call ahead and arrange for special seats for him and yourself.  I know at Bears games they have a "handicap" section behind our seats but it's not uncommon for people who are on crutches to be sitting in that section so they don't have to do the steps at the GC.
  • He is terrible on his crutches (which after a month you'd think he would be somewhat better) and I can't even get him to go out to a restaurant let alone a sporting event. He says he's afraid someone will knock him over... ugh.

I thought about getting him tickets for later in the football season, but I don't know what to do for our actual anniversary... I like the autographed idea... perhaps I'll look for a baseball card or something along those lines.

Life is so much easier when you can walk!
