Where do you stand?

Wedding was 6/6.

Received CD w/ photos end of July.

I haven't heard from my photog since, I sent him an e-mail yesterday.  I know others who have used him, and have also not been happy with the turnaround for their photos.

We got the surpreme package, that includes a fancy shamcy album, and a DVD photo montage with our choice of music.

How long do these things normally take?  I don't even know how many photo's I'm supposed to pick...I know I have to be more aggressive with him.

Re: Where do you stand?

  • It's odd that when they sent you the CD there was no "Let's book an appointment to pick your album photos and montage." Perhaps they're waiting for you to contact them about this? Are they having an especially busy wedding season? Perhaps they're hoping their early summer clients aren't pushing album work since they're swamped right now. Either way, I'd email or call to followup.

  • We were also married 6/6 and still haven't gotten our album. But, we should be getting it any day now. We already picked out the pics we wanted, approved the design of the pictures in the album, and picked out the album cover style and font style. The photog said it would take four weeks from when we approved everything, and that was 5 1/2 weeks ago. Your vendor is definitely late in telling you how many photos you need to pick for the album. If I were in your situation, I would definitely call.

  • Lol, na, I think I figured him out.  Photography is a side business for him, and I understand that.  He thinks he's better then he is (I wan't impressed w/ all my photos, basically only the teaser shots; which is what he shows you when interviewing him).

He doesn't have a lot of weddings, he did one wedding after ours (his website lists his availibility). lol...just lazy!

    I'm gonna be aggressive. Angry

  • Our wedding was 6/7.  We had our CD with all of our photos, and the prints of all by mid july, I think?  Our photographer basically said that he doesn't usually do the albums until the fall, when the season calms down (he is pretty busy).  This doesn't bother me at all though, I find that every time I look through the photos I have different favorites, so choosing is going to be really hard for me.

BUT...if I wanted it now it would really piss me off I couldn't get it.  I'm sure you paid a lot of good money for his services, which include this album.

Side note question - is anyone else getting a traditional album?  Our photographer is really pushing the flushmount type (I think it is easier and cheaper for him) but we really want an album with actual pictures.  Are we the only non-modern weirdos out there?

  • Our wedding was 6/6 too, we just got our album proofs yesterday and I sent back changes last night.  She said it will take her 1-2 weeks to make changes and then another week for printing so I'm expecting to get it by end of October at the latest (she hasnt ever made a deadline yet so I'm expecting it to slip a week or 2).  We did get all of our proofs and our CD about a month and a half ago.  I'm going to send her a list of prints in the next week so she can get those ordered with our album.
  • Our wedding was 6/20 and our album came in the mail on Saturday. We got our CD about 3-4 weeks after the wedding, and I have not ordered any prints yet at all.

Our album is flushmount- no actual pictures. I am normally a bit old fashioned though as I do order prints and make yearly albums "the old fashioned" way. I just love having actual picutres to look at instead of everything digital or just being on FB.

We got the flushmount albums from our photog but since we have the rights to our photos I will be creating an additional scrapbook as well with actual photos. There are a few that I liked that were not in the album.

We went with flushmount but we did have a choice although our photographer encouraged us to go with flushmount as well.  I prefer it because I think it will hold up better.

  • we haven't ordered a pro album so I got nothing. sorry!

but i definitely second being more aggressive with your photog no matter what.?

  • Our wedding was 6/19 and we had our online proofing CD with the rights by mid July.  We don't have our album pre-design yet, but I expect it soon.  I don 't mind the wait because I know they are still very busy!  After that, our album takes a while because it is made in Italy, by Graphistudio.  They are GORGEOUS albums, I cannot wait to see ours!!! I will make additional albums with prints, because I like the traditional look, as well.

  • My wedding was also 6/6 and I got my proofs back within a month, and am currently waiting for my second draft of the album (this would be done but I was slow getting it back to her). So yes, I think your photographer sounds WAY behind.
  • Wedding 6/6

We got all but our fancy wedding book in late July (hardcopy of all the photos, all photos on CD, a couple cute little albums all in a fancy box).

Got the list of photos we wanted for our album to her in late Aug.  Thank you for reminding me I need to check if we ever gave her the green light on the final album!

  • wedding was 6/26.

just got access to full online gallery last week 9/13.

have not recieved photo CD yet.

we're going to make our own album, either by using a Blurb type book or buying an album to slide prints into. (I am kinda torn between the two). So I'm not much help, but I understand your frustration with slow turnaround times -- I'd definitely give them a call, giving them a little nudge can't hurt!
