WWYD?

* let me just say that this hasn't happend to me YET but there has been a lot of talk around the office about 6 people will have to go this month and I have a bad feeling *

ok lets say I'm aprox 24 weeks pregnant and I get laid off. They're giving me a 6 week paid package since I've only been there 1 year and full benefits for those 6 weeks. (this has been the standard package for the other that have already been 'chopped').

Would you look for another job? like in a mall or something part-time?
Just stay home and collect EI?
Would Mat leave be available to you if you're not working???

DH doesn't seem worried about it at all but I'm not too sure..

WWYD?

Re: WWYD?

  • I would say it completely depends on your financial situation. You're obviously becoming very pregnant though, do you think someone would hire you? I am not sure the rules on that one.
  • I think it would depend on your financial situation. If you think some extra cash could help, then it may not hurt to work until the baby comes. I would check into EI though. I am not sure how the overlapping 6 week severance and a PT job would affect your EI benefits. I sure hope it doesn't come to that!
