Does anyone know of any places that sell grass fed/grass finished beef in San Diego? Right now, we go to Homegrown Meats in La Jolla, which is great, but they are always out of the stuff we want and we just moved out of that area so it's no longer convenient to get to.
We really don't want to support Whole Foods and they rarely have grass fed anyway, just organic, which is free of hormones/antibiotics but corn fed. I heard of Jimbo's, but there are no locations near us. Any others that we are missing? We just moved to Hillcrest, so something in this area would be great. I checked localharvest.org, but it was really no help. Thanks for any help!
Re: Grass fed meat in San Diego?
Ive seen grass fed beef @ Iowa Meats but its mostly Iowa raised, grain fed beef. They will do special orders, so it doesnt hurt to check them out. I love getting their berkshire pork.....mmmm....Iowa porkchops!
i usually see grass fed beef at henry's in la mesa, but the selection is usually just strips, sirloin, stew meat, and sometimes ground the prices are always really reasonable though! one of my favorite resources for finding anything local/natural/organic/alternative whatever is the yahoo group san diego natural families. the women on there are pretty hardcore, but its an awesome place to just lurk and learn.
