I'm usually not such a technology moron, but I can't figure this out.
I have an iMac (OS X, v. 10.4.11) and the AccuWeather widget on the dashboard recently quit working. I don't use the Mac that often (sorry Mac users, I'm not a fan...) and I can't figure out why it isn't pulling weather info. anymore. I tried restarting but no dice. If I click to the dashboard, my city is still there, but just two dashes where the temp should be and clicking my city brings me to the AccuWeather website... Is there a special help topic I'm not seeing? Should I just forget the widget and look up weather info. myself when needed?? I'm just curious if anyone has a quick tip - it's purely a convenience tool, though.
Re: Stupid iMac widget question
Is it just today? Sometimes weather centers temporarily can't get information from certain cities, so they display nothing. If you still have this problem tomorrow, then I'd say the widget is messing up.
I think Weather.com has a mac widget too, if you want to try that one instead!
Not knowing anything else, it's probably just a problem with the widget communicating with the AccuWeather servers to download the information. I doubt it's anything specifically with your computer.
They may know of the problem and may be working to fix it, but if the problem persists, the remedy I would suggest is simply to remove it and find a new widget, like the Weather Channel one.
Apparently great minds think alike. We posted at nearly the same time!
It's not just today - it's been like this for a full week now. It does go out sometimes but never for this long.
I'll check out the other widgets - thanks, ladies!
