Need gift help

My sister's birthday is next Wednesday and all I have is a card.

She has no clue what she wants, except for clothes, but doesn't have specific ones picked out.  I'd do a mall gc, but I don't want it to seem impersonal (is that a word?).

Suggestions?  She's turning 22 and still in college.

Re: Need gift help

  • A gift card is always nice.  That way she can get exactly what she wants.  You could always do a visa gift card.  That way she buy whatever she wants.
  • I'm not a big fan of giving my siblings a gift card unless it's for a spa or something similar.

Maybe you can get her an outfit from a store she loves or some really great accessories - I'm loving all the scarves and long necklaces that are out lately.

  • I would like a new winter coat and some new wool sweaters.  Would she like the same thing?  If not, please forward her gifts to me.

On a side note, I am totally a gift card giver!  ha.

  • I aodre the puffy vests from Lands end, just like LL bean but cheaper! i have them in four colors and they are my fall staple. they have cute new women's styles too, so you dont look all boxy.

two words: gift receipt. i hate giving gc, but always just give the gift receipt and feel good about it. good luck!

  • I'd say a great outfit from a trendy, yet reasonable, store. Just include a gift receipt and tell her right away it's okay if she needs to make exchanges.

Kim reminds me of Express, Forever 21, Charlotte Russe... I could be wrong though (I admit my married-old-hag-ness).

  • Maybe you could make a day out of it?  Offer to take her out to lunch and then to the mall to buy her something.  This way you get to hang out and she gets a present.  You know she'll like it if she's there.
  • Thanks for the great ideas! She just told me she wants a Vera bag, so maybe I'll get her one and then pick out a cute sweater or something.

Alicia--those are exactly the places she shops!
