Daycare

I know nothing about daycare--fill me in! Though I am completely against it, I may have to put the baby in daycare when I go back to work, depending on my hours. If you know any centers or nanny's or anything please let me know. I'm also interested in prices and how care providers charge--is it by the hour or week? I work wierd hours so I dont want to be charged for 5 days a week. Thanks!!!!!

I got my nanny job on www.enannysource.com. It's a pretty good resource. With the cost of baby child care, you might be able to get someone to come to your house for not much more.

It is affiliated with sparrow hospital.  It is on the corner of penn and jerome, so right next to the hospital parking deck.  I was impressed with my tour and they have many sparrow parents so they are used to fluctuating schedules.  I think sparrow employees also have a different rate than others.  I was quoted 203 for 4 days a week.

I liked Scribbles and Giggles.  Our oldest was there until his brother came along.  They charge by the day and week.  Very nice facilities.

JoshnEllen- You may want to pull their state records. Tons of violations. It's free to do at DHS (Michigan.gov). You can pull the records of every center in Michigan. One center where you will find hardly any violations and then, just minor ones, is Beginnings Childcare. The one on Jerome had physical incidents within the past 10 years (I was shopping for childcare in 2000 when I pulled their records, to be fair).
