s/o interview suit

Hi everyone, sorry I have been MIA lately. But after I saw tthe post below on interview ensembles I thought you may be able to help me too.

Any suggestions of stores where I can order a nice quality suit online and have it overnighted? I tried banana and they are sold out of my size. I looked at Ann Taylor but the photos show the models running and turning to side. It is really hard to just see the cut of the suit.

I don't own one and just got a call for an incredible interview. But it is next Monday. And I do the phone pre-interview with HR today. I just found out today. Very excited but feel like I am going to throw up at the same time. TIA

Re: s/o interview suit

  • Did you try J.Crew?  They usually have a good variety of pics on their website, though I'm not personally familiar with their suit sizing... I mostly order dresses and tees from them.

  • Sometimes when I'm in a pinch I will order a few things from macys.com.  They have a wide selection and you can return the things you don't like in the stores or via mail (although you do eat the shipping cost -- it's usually worth it for me when I'm in a last minute panic though).

Good luck with the suit AND the interviews!!

  • Have you looked at Nordstrom?
  • I own a suit from Victoria's Secret and I like it =]

  • Wow!  How exciting...some options for you:

    www.nordstrom.com

    www.spiegel.com

    www.lew-magram.com

    www.macys.com

Also, do you have a Dress Barn nearby?  They have some nice suits.

  • most of my suits have come from nordstrom.  They have a good mix of classic suits and some that are a little more trendy.  I don't remember where you are located but if you have a store near you they have some items available online that you can then do in-store pick up.

Oh and you can return anything you order online to the store.

  • Where do you live?  Are there no stores where you can try on?  I would overnight in a pinch... but, I would much rather try a few things on.  Are you pretty easy to fit right off the rack?

That's too bad that Ann Taylor isn't giving you the view you want.  I find that their suit sizing is extremely consistent.  If you've ever had a suit from them, you could order the same size with confidence.

People on the nest's fashion and beauty board love to help other people shop.  If you post "I am looking for an interview suit that is __ color, __ material, skirt/pants, and fits someone with __ really well", they'll post a ton of links for you.  Great resource!

  • Good luck on the interview!  I personally like J. Crew suits.  Are you looking for a high quality wool suit?  Or a more stretchy fabric kind ... often these are more trendy.  J Crew has wool suits with a bit of stretch in them too.

If you have time, PIP a picture of the suit you end up getting - I'd love to see it!

  • Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I live in MT, so our local shopping is terrible. I found one contender at Dillards. Don't love it but its a nice quality suit. A bit trendy, but I don't feel too manly or like I am going to a funeral.

I will post my results when I purchase something. I should be starting my phone interview anytime. I am posting to keep myself from rehashing sample interview questions over and over again.

  • Have you purchased anything yet? I agree that I've found nice stuff at Nordstrom and Ann Taylor when I've been in the States before. I think Nordstrom has a good online return policy, so maybe you could order online and return the no-go suits if you have time?
