I need some suggestions

That "get to know you" got me thinking here. Since I will be going to Disneyland this weekend, I want to you know your advice? Where/what should I do? Your must list. I havent been there in 14 years. So I am super happy that I am going.

Thanks Ladies.

Re: I need some suggestions

  • I haven't been in awhile, but here is my two cents:

Do: arrive early (smaller lines), pack snacks (food is expensive), use Fast Passes, check out the new Pirates ride, dress in layers (for weather, indoor and outdoor rides), wear comfy shoes, sunscreen

Don't: forget the camera, leave valuables in the car, forget to post pics when you get back!

You're prob going to get a lot more/better advice from all the Disney professionals on this board. Have a great time!

  • Oh goodness.  I will try to be back later with this when I don't have a squirmy, teething 5 month old in my arms.  =)
  • If you want a great sit down lunch or dinner. Go straight to the Blue Bayou in New orleans square and make a reservation. or call ahead of time. Its the restuarant in the Pirates of the Carribean ride. Good food but a little pricey.

If your planning on being there all day and are hardcore like us and go non-stop get a locker and put your sweatshirts in it. We also take a camelpack filled with nothing but water so we don't pay the extortion prices for bottled water. fill the pack with ise and take extra bottles for refills. a few snacks come in handy too. I make Hubby carry the pack. Rides that are a must would include. Space mountain, Splash mountain, Matterhorn, Thunder

  • California Adventure!  I love the Disney side more (b/c of the nostalgia) but the rides and crowds are better on the CA side IMO.  Soarin' over California (fastpass), Tower of Terror--love love love this ride (also FP), and California Screamin--in the front at night-whoa nellie! (FP too).  All the 'Mountain' rides are great and I love Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Pirates and the Haunted Mansion. Oh and the Jungle Cruise.  I think Indiana Jones is overrated, but everyone else in my family likes it.  Ditto pp about the Blue Bayou.  Oh and you can drink adult beverages in California Adventure!

  • Disneyland is my absolute favorite place in the world!  I agree with all of pp suggestions.  When we need a break from the crowds we usually go over to The Grand Californian hotel and sit in the bar or lobby and have a drink.  I love the FLW style, and it's usually really quiet.  We usually leave the park to eat in Downtown Disney, either at ESPN Zone or House of Blues.

Inside the park, look for the hidden Mickey's- they're everywhere, but it's the hard to see ones that are the most fun to find.  This website has weekly updates of what is going on in the parks- what is closed, what is under construction, what to avoid, etc.

This site is also cool for fun Disneyland secrets, it totally gets you excited, and you notice things in the park that you've never seen before.

I haven't been during the Halloween decor, but the Haunted Mansion stays the same through out Christmas, and that's my absolute favorite-- it's decorated like the movie "Nightmare Before Christmas".  It's awesome.....!

    Have fun!!

  • A couple more from me:

    - Get a churro (or 12...)  ;-)

    - Get a fast pass as soon as you get in the park for a ride that will get busy later on.  And check the time at the bottom of your fast pass - that will let you know when you can get another one for a different ride.  Get as many fast passes as you can, especially if the park is busy.  And the busier the park is, the later it will be before you can ride the ride with your fast pass (it's actually a good way to tell how busy the park is).

    - Keep in mind if you are park hopping that you can have a fast pass out at the same time in different parks.  So, you can have a fast pass for Tower of Terror in CA Adventure at the same time you have a fast pass out for Space Mountain in Disneyland.

    - The fast passes say they expire by a certain time, but we use our fast passes after they expire all the time (as long as it's the same day).  You can't use them earlier though.

-Try to watch the fireworks show one night.  And watch it on main street.  It's an AMAZING show right now.

    - Blue Bayou is one of my favorite restaurants (especially for ambiance - it's on the pirates ride), but it is pricy.  If you aren't able to spend that much on meals and also aren't in the mood for burgers and chicken strips and hot dogs at all the quick service places, a couple other options are:  The French Market in New Orleans Square (one of my favorites), Plaza Inn on Main Street, Bengal BBQ (awesome skewers here!!), Pacific Wharf Cafe in CA Adventure (AWESOME soup in bread bowls), Taste Pilot's Grill - right by Soarin' in CA Adventure (my favorite chicken sandwich is here), and at Downtown Disney, I love Naples restaurant.

I can't write more - really mad baby!!

This is the 5th time I've heard that. They must be really good. Thanks for all that advice. The Blue Bayou is another one I've heard that is nice. We might try it. I am so excited.

    Thanks again ladies.
