It's a lot, but I live in LA. When I was a teacher, one of my students was James Pickens' granddaughter (he's on Gray's Anatomy) so he came in to all of her conferences. My first year the annual fundraiser for the agency (I chaperoned kids who were singing) was hosted by the mom and dad from that 70's show. Alicia Silverstone was there, too. I stepped on Peter Gallagher's foot because he was right behind me when I was lining up the kids. I used to be friends with Larry Flynt's daughter so I've met him, too.
When I worked in retail I helped Bill Mahrer, Richard Dreyfus and Christina Aguilera. And Too Short (he was a rapper, I didn't know him). A million years ago I used to date a rapper (if any of you guys are into underground hip hop, you might know him).
Plus I've met a ton of authors at the yearly book fair out here: Gore Vidal, Jonathan Safran Foer, Steve Almond, Sarah Vowell, Sherman Alexie. The kind of people who are important to nerds. I met Marcia Wallace (voice of Mrs. Krabappal) at the book fair too. We had a really nice talk. At the time I was single and she was telling me about her son.
And then in passing? Like too many to count. Pauly Shore hit on me once when we went to his parent's comedy club. That was really uncomfortable. Recently, I saw Angela from the Office at the mall like a month ago. And Emily Deschanel at the movie theater. I could go on but I imagine I'm boring you all.

I've met a lot too, but I grew up in a celebrity-laden South Florida.
-I've had drinks with Chris O'Donnell (he sat in front of me in church with his family the next day!)
- I've said hi to Tiger Woods and Burt Reynolds at a little ole breakfast place in my little old hometown
-The first President Bush drove right past me on my little old sidewalk in the afforementioned town?
-Ate dinner next toTori Amos
-Met The Donald on multiple occasions
-Hung with John C. McGinley (Dr. Cox from Scrubs), he was seeing one of my friends at the time. He's awesome.
- Hung with John Cusak
-Been in line behind Ben Stein buying coffee, he is super nice and bought mine for me!
-Ate a hamburger next to George Hamilton (the tan dude)
-Hung with Andy Roddick at a club
-Hung with Dave Navarro at a club?
-Had drinks with Hugh Grant
-Shook hands with Tommy Lee Jones at a polo match?
-ran into Vera Wang and Regis Philbin at my grocery store (on separate occasions)?
-coordinated two charity events, one with Goldie Hawn (yes, she's that awesome in real life) and one with Jay Leno (awesome too)?
I also dated a professional baseball player who shall remain nameless, so I've met a ton of famous athletes.
I also worked at a radio station in Orlando so I've hung with a bunch of 'artists', including Fabulus (whatever happened to him?), Ja-Rule (whatever happened to Him?), Nelly, The Backstreet Boys, N Sync (I have been to Chris and Joey's house, both guys are really nice), I think there are more but this list feels obnoxious enough as it is. It was exciting walking out the door not knowing who you were going to see, but also meant I never wore sweats to 'run out' anywhere!
Oh, and my grandparents lived next to Tom Cruise's mom. I never met him, but my mom did!?
Lark--who was the rapper!!!?
Mamie-How have you met all the MTV people? Is Bam Margera anywhere near you (I think he is from PA). I've always wanted to meet him!?
Kaley-I love Joe Nichols! Tequila makes my clothes fall off
?
Similar to Lark and Angelfire, I've had more celebrity run-ins than are worth mentioning since I have lived in both New York and Malibu (and worked at Nobu in Malibu, which is celebrity-filled pretty much daily), but my favorites were:
-Fiona Apple apologizing to me after she initially didn't hear me saying how much I love her music (the only time I ever said anything like that to a celeb)
-being asked by Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) about a particular frozen food while grocery shopping with at Ralph's
-partying at a club with Taye Diggs (got a kiss on the cheek from him)
-chatting in line with a regular from General Hospital (name escapes me), who was waiting with his daughter to get the newest NSync CD
-Mark Wahlberg hitting on me
-Met a ton of celebs at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball in DC in January
-College friend married Joe McIntyre (though we're not close anymore)
-Favorite sightings (no real interaction): President Obama, passing by Will Ferrell on a NYC street (man, he is TALL), Mariah Carey at a CD signing (when I LOVED her), Madonna
-For all the dorks, famous college professors: Toni Morrisson, Alan Blinder, Uwe Reinhardt, Daniel Kahneman, and Anne Treisman.
-Famous college classmates: Jonathan Safran Foer
Vh--your list RULES. I don't know where to start, first of all you worked at Nobu??? That is my favorite all-time restaurant (never been to the Malibu one though). You've probably seen everyone.?
Who was the nicest?
Who was the jerkiest?
Second, Mark W. HIT on you?!!! I would have died.
Thirdly, I love Fiona Apple too.?
And last, Joey McIntyre was supposed to be mine!!
We had the same birthday and everything, I thought we were meant to be...?
Well my list is pretty lame. I ran into Kobe Bryant in my hotel lobby in Vegas and Lance Bass on Bourbon St. one New Year's Eve. But my absolute favorite was randomly meeting Twink Caplan (Ms. Geist from Clueless!) in the train station in Paris.
Oh and Jessica Simpson came into the ice cream store I used to work at on a day I wasn't working. That counts... right?
Hmm....
not nearly as many as you girls, but quite a local celebrities i guess..
I guess at Derby we always have great seats so I see the celebs but don't really "talk" to them
I sat next to Ashley Judd at a basketball game
I have hung out with the (now deceased) Prince of Saudi Arabia and went down into the paddocks with him and pet his horse that ended up winning the derby that day
I played host to Ben McKenzie from the O.C. when he came to my college to speak. I never watched the OC so it didn't mean that much to me though...
I got stuck in an elevator with Hulk Hogan when he actually was still wrestling (before his show)
**swoon** he has to be one of the hottest men alive.
My list is pathetic (although I never really remember anyone until something jogs my memory).
Lemonheads - me and a friend were at a concert at Roseland and the guitarist smashed his guitar on stage. A piece came flying off and nailed my friend in the head. We ended up backstage. Evan Dando was super sweet, kissing my friends ass trying to give her things, and she was just pissed off and mean to him.
Had dinner before a concert backstage with Toby Keith and his band (very random).
I've had a couple of "sightings" - Julia Roberts, the guy from Orange County Chopper (and his sons). Usually others have to point these people out to me. I never notice.
Jesse James
Brady Quinn walked past me after one of the Notre Dame games.
I've met James Taylor, the late Christopher Reeves (he was an assshole), Rosie O'Donnell (before she got all preachy), Macy Gray, Donald Trump (I got all fangirl and told him I had all of his books - he laughed and said thank you for the income), and I saw Matt Damon and Ben Affleck having lunch in Boston like 2 years ago.
And my MOH met John Krasinski at a shady bar in Manchester
Surprisingly few, considering my proximity to L.A.
However, most of my stories are kinda funny...
I met Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie, Barney) and Wilson Cruz (Ricky from My So-Called Life) when they were in RENT together in L.A. I was 14. I thought I was going to die when Neil Patrick Harris told me I asked him a very smart question.
I spilled David Spade's drink at a Cheesecake Factory. He was performing at the Improv in Irvine and was apparently having dinner before hand. I was in a rush to get to the bathroom, bumped into the table, turned and said "Oh, I'm sorry...um, David Spade!" and ran away.
I met Pat Sajak and Vanna White because I was a contestant on Wheel of Fortune in 2004.
Ryan Seacrest hit on my best friend when we had front row seats for an American Idol taping.
And of course I've met some of the Comic Con regulars (Kevin Smith, namely) a few times.
Have I mentioned lately how much I hate my work computer and how it randomly decides to post?
SHOOT ME.
Morning Ladies!
vhcoleman--that is awesome about Jonathan Safran Foer! Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close was my favorite book for years!! (though I was sort of disappointed by his first book, the one they actually made into a movie). Swoon. I LOVED him and got all giggly when I met him. Ironically, I only do that for authors. I can't tell you how many times I've embarrassed myself in front of Gore Vidal (well, the answer is 3. Three times).
SBS--Tell me about being on Wheel of Fortune! That must have been awesome!
Angelfire--Slug, from Atmosphere.
<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="D
First off, please ignore my ovulation chart link. I started posting on the getting pregnant board. Second, yeah, I've been in the right places to do quite a bit of celebrity watching.
Angelfire - I also love Nobu, which is why I wanted to work there. To this day, I still get a kick-a** discount (and I worked there from 2000-2002). The nicest celebrity was probably Fiona. I just love her anyway and to think that she took the time to come back up to the hostess counter to tell me how sorry she was that she didn't hear what I said was just doubly cool. (Then she proceeded to make out with her boyfriend at the time by the bathrooms in plain view of the whole restaurant). The jerkiest was probably Kid Rock. He was there with Pam Anderson and John McEnroe and some other folks and was acting a complete fool. He brought/snuck his own champagne in and asked me not to tell, then proceeded to grope Pam under the table (of course it was right in my view if I turned around from the hostess stand), then walked into the window as he was leaving because he thought it was the door. Mark W. hitting on me was AWESOME. If I were $luttier, I so would have done something about that. Funny thing was that he was such a regular and I remember he had gotten his wisdom teeth out and couldn't get his favorite dish so asked if I could recommend something. And lastly, I was also sad about Joey McIntyre. I was in love with him too. He was at our 5th year college reunion and I met him there. Really nice guy.
Cruella - yes, Taye Diggs is HOT. We were both a little drunk that night at my favorite LA club, Miyagi's. Chris Tucker had just done karaoke and everybody was laughing about it, so I approached him about that and told him how I'd seen him the week before on the NYC subway. We bonded.
Lark - Love that you swoon over Gore Vidal. Love. it.
The same day I met most of Dave Matthews band, I met most of Robert Randolf and the Family Band.
I've met Aaron Karo (a b-list commedian)
Steven Tyler went to the same physical therapist as me. I saw him getting treatment there a couple times I was there.
I work out at the same gym where the Boston Celtics practice and work out so I've met most of them.
I met Rodney Harrison (football player) in front of PF Chang's one night.
I've met a bunch of Red Sox players.
There's definitely more... I am trying to think.
I've met Joel and Benji Madden a few times. After one of their concerts in Salt Lake, I got to play dodgeball with them, New Found Glory and a few other bands (I can't really remember because I was pretty drunk)
I'm pretty good friends w/ the punk band MxPx so I meet whoever they're on tour with. Last year I got to meet Rancid which was pretty sweet.
I've also met a ton of NHL and NFL players. I played hockey with Dan Hinote a few times. I don't have the pic on this computer though.
Here's me with the Madden twins from back in the day.. it was at a press conference for Civic Tour
Gah, I need to move to a big city. Totally jealous of John C. McGinley (love him!), NSYNC, and Ben Mack sightings.
angel - Matt, Dan, and Dave were speakers at my college. CT and Kina did a bar appearance at a club. (CT skipped out with a friend of mine to do some weed.) and Frank came into the restaurant I worked with his parents over the holidays. We were insanely busy and as I was taking him to the only clean table, he points to a dirtya$$ booth he says, "Can't we have that booth right there?" So I spin around able to give a stern and passive-aggressive. "Suuuure... (and I realize who it is) um, let me just clean it for you really fast..." and babbled at high speed. Then his mother says, "Oh honey, I prefer a table!" So he had to deal with it.

Lark -- Wheel was awesome. I sucked, but it was awesome. Actually, Pat Sajak says at the end of my episode "You know, some people lose because they play poorly. Other people lose because the Wheel isn't nice to them. You played great, the wheel was mean." I would literally spin, guess a letter, spin again, and hit bankrupt/lose a turn EVERY. TIME.
But I did get my $500 parting gift, I was the red square so I got to stand next to Pat, and Vanna brought us all bagels while we were in hair/make-up in the morning.
Love these stories! Thanks for sharing all of them!
SBS, so cool about Wheel of Fortune!
I know some people who would die to hang out with MxPx, that's is totally rad that you're friends with them!
Vhcoleman, I want your life
Not surprising about Kid Rock though, right? What a dillhole.
Mamie-Johnny C. is one of the nicest, most generous, wonderful people I have ever met. Like I said, he was dating my friend so we spent a good amount of time together. I have nothing but good things to say about him.
PS-Venus Williams also ran into me in Saks. Like on purpose. She is a b!tch. And ginormous.?
Ew I can't stand the Williams sisters!! Now I have another reason! That's funny to hear she's ginormous though.. She's just jealous you're hot and she's not haha
You are so sweet, thanks!! Yes, I am not a fan of VW either. She was like totally trying to intimidate me and we were the only 2 people in the store and we definitely wouldn't be fighting over a size or anything (she's seriously like six feet tall), what a freak! Serena seems nice though, she and her super tall ex bf (some basketball player I think) were signing autographs for a bunch of little kids while they were out shopping. I saw them stop to do it (I was at the Cheesecake Factory naturally.) ?:)

That is major!!! ?
I was really excited and told everyone about it at the time, but no one cared until a few years later when he ran for president. At the time, most people were like, who? when I told them!
Donny Osmond
Brian Dennehy
Relient K (about 9 times)
Harvey Ball
Frank Caliendo
a bunch of Christian singers/bands
Renee Zellwegger (spelling?) shops at the Wal-mart I worked at (where I met DH). She's been there a few times, but I've never seen her!

I have met him before, too, at a luncheon for this organization where my dad worked. When he lived in Chicago, my dad did a lot of volunteering for him, mostly for the senatorial campaign but their paths would cross often at volunteer events, etc. Then my parents moved to Vermont. Obama came through New Hampshire when he was running for president and my dad went to go see and and came up to him after the event and Obama said "Hey! I remember you! What are you doing out here? You used to be in Chicago." I was so impressed that he remembered my dad, essentially "some dude," and knew where he was from and how he knew him, etc. Classy man, doesn't forget the little guy.
