I picked up Dan Brown's new book on my way home from work yesterday. Anyone else reading it or interested in reading it?
I only got through a few chapters since I took Nyquil and the room started spinning at about 9:30.... However, it seems to be a LOT like Angels & Demons. Too similar, I think. There are a lot of the same types of characters (including the main character, Langdon, the typical, tough guy police chief, the dark haired, Meditteranean love interest, the foreign villain, the wizened mentor...). The plot seems to be following the same path as Angels & Demons, and the DaVinci Code for that matter, but I'll reserve judgment until after I finish reading. They're always good, I just wish he would try a different formula and prove that he can write out of his comfort zone.
He's a good writer, but his stories would be so much more interesting if they weren't so predictable.
I will post my review when I finish

I was on a huge Dan Brown kick and read a ton of his books at one time. I got so sick of them because they were always very similar, just like you said. I was able to predict everything and it drove me nuts.
I am reading the Sookie Stackhouse Series now and it's light and fun. I'm a huge True Blood fan so this is the only thing holding me over until Season 3!!
hey! i bought and raed it the same day lol
i thought the same thing in the beginning. i kept thinking "aw, this is so predictable!" but it's not. it reminded me a lot more of his other non-langdon books. granted, his "script" is the same.... the hot scientist lady, this deformed bad guy, the hardass who is trying to do good, the strong helper, etc...
it's a decent book, and not as controversial as the other langdon books, i thought. it's a fun read, though!
I'm about halfway through and not that impressed. It's entertaining, but his writing is formulaic. I found The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons much more interesting.
I've been super busy so I haven't had a chance to finish, but I actually just want to finish it to move on to the next book.
