Hi Girls,
We are thinking about buying a new house and then renting our current house out. We have looked at some different areas we would consider, but we don't have a realtor yet. Do you know any realtors you would recommend?
To be honest, our budget is low for what we are looking for (we all have to sacrafice these day ) so we want a realtor that is very cut throat and knows what they are doing (I guess that is something we would want even if our budget wasn't low...lol).
The realtor my mom was working with when she was thinking about buying a new home was an idiot and didn't know the first thing about the housing market or how to work a deal. My mom's loan guy ended up giving her more advice than her realtor did and my mom was stuck with her because she made her sign a contract that she wouldn't work with anyone else (which I guess is normal) which to me sounds crazy...if you don't like their service, you should be able to get someone else, but I guess that is just their way of covering themselves from doing a lot of work for nothing.
Anyway...I am just worried that we are going to end up with a bad realtor and then be stuck with him/her. On that note, when finding a realtor, what are some good questions we can ask so we know they are the one for us? (i.e. how long have you been in realstate in SD? etc.)
Thanks (and sorry for the long post!)
Jannel
Re: Recommend a Realtor, please!
I work for a termite company so we deal with a lot of realtors One is So wonderful. The things he does for his clients go above and beyond what most realtors do. He is honest and straight forward and gives you what YOU want. His name is Greg Allen with C-21 Seacoast. Is phone number is 760-635-3117 (VM) his website is www dot getgregallen dot com.
He is so great that when My husband and I bought our place we used him. I know he will take great care of you. Good luck in the house hunt
Okay i got excited about recommending my realtor so i responded before reading your entire post.
Greg has been a realtor for i belive over 25 years. Been the the market ups and down.
at anytime you can "let him go" He doesn't make you use him if you don't want to. Such an honest good hearted knowledgable guy.
We just closed on our house a week and 1/2 ago and so LOVED our realtor! He's been doing this for quite awhile and really knows his stuff. Even the sellers' realtor said how great it would be if all deals went as smoothly as ours because our realtor really knew his stuff (seriously, everything ran so smoothly and he was great when it came to working with us on how much to offer, how much to ask for repairs and told us what to expect and what was realistic!). He even fought for us when they thought there was no way we'd back out of the deal because we were already "attached". Because of him we got more than we were expecting on our request for repairs costs.
I think choosing a realtor is personal and you should go with not only who knows their stuff, but who you click with. We clicked with Mike not only professionally, but personally. I liked his matter of fact way and his honesty!
His name is Mike and he's with Pacific Pinnacle Real Estate. I referred him him to another Nestie who just went into Escrow on her home. You can page her and get some feedback from her as well if you like.
Mike Gassaway. 619.436.9446
oh, and we never had to sign a contract to work with Mike!!
Here I am. . .. I LOVE Mike. Escrow is going well. I have lots to say. Things are going smoothly. He is patient, doesn't scoff about price range, but also very honest. I trust his opinions. We went through 3 realtors of varying experience in a couple areas, and have truly clicked with Mike. I appreciate his recommendations. He has such a knack in dealing with the seller/seller's agent and being realistic. I can let you know more. But seriously, he is great.
