How early for cake?

Is Friday too early to make the cake for a Sunday party?  Should I wrap and refrigerate or just wrap?

I thought I had another weekend before my kid's party.  I'm freaking that it's NEXT weekend.

I'd make it, but not frost it until the day of.  I'd put it in saran wrap in a tupperware container if you have one large enough.

In a dream world I'd frost it day of.  It's 5 rounds, in 5 colors, plus cupcakes.

Well now, that's your own doing, missy   You could make it easy on yourself and skip the colors.

Cake icing doesn't lie - it'll tell you exactly how old that cake is.  Do it Friday if you want, but personally I'd get up early the day of the party and do it.

Yes - you can make the cake Friday and then frost it the day of. When I worked part time in a bakery, they would make the cakes a day in advance to allow them to cool, do a crumb coat, etc.... and then frost the day of before the orders were picked up.

Well now I know what I'm doing Sunday morning.  I guess it doesn't really matter since the kid gets up at 5 am anyway.
