Re: Help for an Iowa Nestie??
DH and I drive through it every time we go to visit ILs (~15 times a year, coming and going).
If you're looking for very small town, almost-rural life, it'd work for you. I'm sure it's very affordable to live there.
It's tiny and there's not much there. They have a WM, an assortment of fast food places and a bunch of 1960s ranch style homes. You are hours from anything more than a WM - it's a very sad thing indeed to say that the closest "metropoli" would be Clarksville and Jackson, 60 mi each in opposite directions. Clarksville is a trashy town but it's got a Hobby Lobby and Target. Jackson would be my pick - it's very nice and has many national restaurants and stores.
Do not under any circumstances move to rural TN without both of you having jobs (if you both work). You'll never find anything if you don't have it lined up before you move. Heaven forbid you ever lose your jobs - you won't be able to find more work. There just isn't any industry in this part of TN - nothing powers this part of the state and keeps it going.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
Thanks for the reply. From what I have googled about Paris I pretty much got the jist of there being no shopping. As long as I have the internet and UPS delivers I think I could live with that. We would be moving for my husband's job. I'm a SAHM. It does look like a beautiful area. The only part I'm worried about now is moving away from our families.
If anyone else has opinions I'd love to hear them. Thanks!!
I have a friend who is originally from Paris, and I know from her that it is home to the World's Biggest Fish Fry (http://www.americaslibrary.gov/cgi-bin/page.cgi/es/tn/fish_1). Can't say that about anywhere else. Also, it is close to Land Between the Lakes which is a really beautiful national recreation area with camping, canoeing, hiking, and other outdoor activities.
Also, regarding what PP said, Clarksville and Jackson are the closest-by large cities. I lived in Clarksville for four years while I went to college and really didn't care for the town. The mall is fairly large but kind of run down. It's a military town (kinda attached to Fort Campbell, KY). I am not as familiar with Jackson.
