Ok so husband and I are now separating our things. His new dishes just came in and my...flatware. I thought $40 super clearence was awesome for a set from Pfaltzgraff that originally was $105. I thought for sure they wouldn't be bendy... I got a set at target for $8 that's awesome and is super tough....
No.... super bendy. So I'm returning it, no hassle from them, theyre even paying for return shipping AND crediting the shipping amount i paid to get it here. They always make me feel good about buying from them anyway...
But now I need help. What's the count that tells how good it is? My mom said anything 18 and up is good but this was 18 and you couldnt stab a grape with it if you wanted to.
Re: Help re: flatware
We got ours from Crate and Barrel and LOVE them. They are the 'hammered' ones. Other friends also have C&B and love them as well. I don't know the 'counts' and they probably aren't sterling, but great for everday use and definitely are well made. lmk if you want the link, I can find them on the website easily.
Ours are Oneida and every friggin one of our knives are rusted. It was a $200 set we got for the wedding and everything else is fine, it's just the knives. We even wash them the recommended way with non citrus powder detergent. Anyway, they are 18/8 stainless. That's just the grade of stainless steel they are. 18/8 is the most common for flatware.
Just go to BB&B and use a 20% off coupon. If you need some, I've got about a million!
The count on mine is 18/10.
But it is $80/setting. It's usually on sale for $40 a setting though! Othenia by Oneida.
I should edit this to clarify: One PLACE setting (knife, two spoons, two forks) So I doubt you want to spend $400+ on flatware.
I have seen good stuff at Target!
