One of my very good friends is getting married. This is her 3rd marriage (divorced first husband, second husband died from diabetes related complications) and she obviously does not need a bridal shower. Her daughter is throwing her a bachelorette party, and I offered to throw her a lingerie party.
Has anyone held one before? If so, any ideas?
Re: Lingerie Party?
I had a lingerie shower and it was a lot of fun. The combination of alcohol and raunchiness was right up my alley, though, so if your friend is fairly reserved (or the majority of the guests are), then it might not be the best option.
That being said, we didn't do games. Some people love them, but they're not my thing and I'm glad that the hostess didn't force them. It was basically a brunch with a generous helping of mimosas and opening lingerie.
I might be getting my shower games mixed up here...
But I think I remember reading about a game where someone writes down everything the bride says when she opens each gift like "that's hot" and "how pretty" and then all the things are read outloud at the end. And the joke is that those are the things that are said on the wedding night. Something along those lines. Sorry if I confused you even further.
Also, all the "lingerie" parties that I've ever been to, have actually been at the Bachelorette. In other words, when we get together for drinks at a home or hotel suite before going out, the bride opens her lingerie gifts there.
By the way - you can play a game where all the lingerie is displayed and the bride has to guess who gave her what. There's no gift opening - but it could be fun!
Good luck!
