Hardwood Floor Recs??

We are interested in getting hardwood laid in our living room and hallway.  Does anyone have any recommendations for companies in or around Nashville?  Thanks.

Re: Hardwood Floor Recs??

  • Get your flooring from Surplus Sales in Clarksville.  A drive, yes, but for $1.50/sq ft for engineered and $2.50/sq ft for solid, you won't find cheaper anywhere in the area.  They have a massive warehouse that beats anything in Nashville.  Trust me, we looked.  Lumber Liquidators is a joke - don't waste your gas.  Their prices started around $6/sq ft.

Call Travis Reeves for a quote.  He's done the governor's personal home but does regular folks for great prices. He'll gladly email you references and photos of his work.

We have unfortunately had a HW installer run off with $2100 (Vicki Ross of Segovia Sisters HW Floors).  I have to file a police report (and a million other reports) tomorrow.  Last week when I was still holding on to some hope that we'd get our materials from her, I called Travis out to give an estimate to do the work I'd hired her to do.  Very prompt, professional, genuinely concerned about us being stolen from and very courteous.  I'd gladly hire him in a heartbeat...but we have no materials and no money to buy more.

  • TarHeels.... Thanks for your suggestions.  We are meeting with a guy that installed our neighbors floors this week.  If for some reason we don't go with him, I will give Travis a call.

I'm sorry that you're having problems.  I hope that your police report will help you get your materials back from the other company.  That's just terrible.  I will definitely stay away from them.  Good luck!

  • Please get more than one estimate.  You'll be amazed at the difference in prices.  When we've gotten floor quotes, it's been as much as $2k between quotes.  We've worked with plenty of good contractors on plenty of large projects, so I actually do know what I'm talking about, even if this lady makes me look like a moron lol
